 It's #SwitcherSaturday Time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

This week I've got a picture of my favorite engine down at the train club house (club inventory), a NYC #5628 GP7 (Lionel Legacy 6-28561).  I try to run this engine each time I go down to the club, and if I ever get the chance to grab one I probably would jump on it, it's a great road switcher.

Also figured I'd drop a picture or two of a NYC GP7 from the "interwebs", why not?

I know one of you guys went to York (pictures please?) - any of you other SWSAT regulars go?  I think we should all go next year and have a nice SWSAT Saturday morning breakfast.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, have some switcher fun and when you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

All the best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

If you missed last week's SWSAT you should really go take a look, we had a ton of posts and it was a great fun!

Hey good switcher Saturday to everyone. York was great especially since MTH announced a new NW2      MA & PA #81. My pre-order is in !

I was really excited when I saw this one too, here are some pictures clipped from the catalog for those NW2s, I'm really considering the Ma & Pa with the calf, looks great.

I got the opportunity to meet Mike Wolfe yeterday and personally thank him for the latest MA & PA addition. I also told him we need more switchers !

Hey Rich- I just picked up a Legacy GP-7 from forum member Mark Boyce. Great engine, I love mine. I am running conventional but it is still a cool loco. Did someone say legacy base????

The Ma & Pa NW- 2 looks mighty tempting for sure.

Be back soon with a new SWSat post for today.

I recently got a great opportunity to trade a Western Maryland locomotive for a MA & PA SW1 #70.

I couldn't believe the guy was willing to go through with the trade. I don't think it hurt he knew how much I love the MA & PA.

That's a great looking Western Maryland locomotive.

Thanks- goes well with my BL-2. Now I need a smaller switcher in WM to complete the set.

Wow those WM's really looks nice RSJB18 !

Rich,

I second the idea of a SWSAT group attendance at York.

Boston & Maine Class H-2a #613 is a USRA copy 0-8-0 steam engine switcher built by ALCO Schenectady in September 1922 and scrapped in June 1952. The engine weighed 170,060 pounds, the tender 157,700 pounds for a total 327,760 pounds. The model is an MTH Railking with PS-2 which was shown in the 2001 Volume 1 catalog and priced at $399.95. I haven’t run this engine in a while. So, I have purchased a BCR and will be installing it this week.

The switcher group meet idea sounds great to me maybe we could catch up at the fall meet ?

nothing new on the switcher front here....been a bit distracted the last couple of weeks. My Pastor has his own restoration shop and he is  graciously helping me get my car out of it's six year sentence in primer jail...

Happy SWSat.. Part II

Brian- Don't think the CEO will allow me to park that in the driveway

Steamer- Dave- Nice paint job. Very cool color. Was that the original when the car was new? I Don't think I ever heard of a Pastor that does car restorations before.

Melgar- another nice loco- you  have a very distinguished collection

Andy- Nice PC

Mike CT- the antennas make a nice addition.

Dave and Bill- great switchers!

A SWSat meet at York sounds tempting... Guess we would have to stay till Saturday to make it official

So I'm not sure if this counts as a switcher but I recently found a matching F3B unit to go with my MPC B&O F3A. It's in great shape just like the A unit but I think I may repaint the trucks to match the A.

Cheers- Bob

I think the fact that you show the Hostler window in this image should qualify it for the SWSat rules. These b units did have controls to move them around usually solo in an engine terminal. I have never seen pics of them in use switching cars solo but I also don’t see why it could not be done. They are kind of default boxcabs with no side windows.

Dave,

That Road Runner "switcher" of yours is sweet. Congrats on getting to that step. So, when can I borrow it for the next demolition derby?

This is a rare bird even in an inoperable state. Nice!

This one is operable.. It pulled our train to Metamora and back.  I believe that Whitewater Valley owns all of the remaining Lima-Hamilton switchers (only a hand full).  Some are surely parts donors.  I don't know if any others are in operating condition, or are on the schedule for restoration.

(Daddy arrives)

Will you kids stop yelling!  We can hear you all the way over at the engine terminal, and the cantankerous old steamers in the roundhouse are complaining about the noise.

But daddy, I'm supposed to move this!

No, dad, I'm supposed to!

Daddy, make him let go!

No, dad, make her let go.

Grrrrrr!

Grrrrrr back!

Okay, I'm calling your mother!

Oh oh, he's calling mom.

Now we are in trouble.
