Why not just tighten the post nuts and apply a drop of genuine LocTite, instead of the extra nuts and washers. Been running our TIUs for 10 years+ and they have not melted.
Maybe it's just overkill with the nuts and washers?
Or just do it all; washers, nuts, loctite ...

A sample of one does not make the lack of failures meet any statistical model. 
I've personally repaired several TIU's and one Z-4000 with melted posts due to loose connections inside.
If you've been running TIUs for over 10 years, they're probably Rev G, which has soldered connections, not nuts. Is Loctite conductive?
There was something on the nuts as they came from China, and obviously it either didn't work or the Chinese laborers didn't tighten the nuts adequately.
