Test run, …..almost ready to pull the Croton local on a solo run, …..can’t wait to get this thing up to 60-65 mph and watch her cruise,……😀

I didn't watch this last night, idk why, maybe too excited? Wow is all I have to say. The lighting on the drivers is in one word, awesome. I would say it makes me think of Some Like It Hot, but that is a different engine pulling(8 drivers I believe). I can't wait to see this pull some cars either Pat, this is going to be splendid.

Dave is a Hudson nut, ……now we need to find him a nice F7 MR Hudson, then the CB&Q Hudson, then the rare NKP shops built Hudson, and, and, and, ……😁😁😁

The Hiawatha? Is that what that is? I know I keep seeing a Weaver one pop up from time to time. I don't think I know the CB&Q one. What was the streamline Chicago and Northwestern one? Was that a Pacific?

Yeah, the Hiawatha, …..if we get the Weaver model, I have a complete MTH F7 Hudson chassis, …..that’ll make it super smooth,…..I believe Pete rebuilt one of the Weaver Hiawatha Hudsons???……..but I think he had to put a gear box & a motor in that one,…So when we get around to building a Hiawatha Hudson for you, ….we’ll chassis swap that sucker …….😄😄😄

...if you look closely you can see both of those tenders have Kadees, so I am guessing those are the norm for all of his stuff...Pat...?

Mark, my stuff has Kadees, but this one belongs to Dave, ….he hasn’t been bitten by the Kadee bug,…..yet,…..😁…..we’re gonna work on that in the future, …..Dave’s shared his layout plans with me, he certainly can go Kadee in the future,…..

Mine still has the 44:1 gearbox. It blows away all Legacy engines in a slow race. Will accept all challengers for pink slips. Wanna Race? Loser wins.

I think I should have said road name instead of paint scheme.

Road names indeed coach. My heart belongs to the Central & it's competitor, the Pennsylvania. My handle here is perfect for that because on one side you have the powerful Hudson's, on the other, the Pennsylvania's pride the K4 Pacific. Whole most of my K4's need Pat's gearbox fix, I do have the TMCC one that doesn't.

With that said I am a huge fan of steam, and have some interesting tastes in those engines. Pat has my Weaver Royal Hudson Canadian Pacific which will be a very interesting project when we get over to that one. I missed out on MTH's passenger cars that would go with that engine perfectly, but there are others out there somewhere. I do have some diesels, but prefer overall hardly any diesels save the short list that ran alongside or against steam during the late steam years.

That’s why we did the chassis swap on George’s 44:1 Willimas N&W J, …….4 easy steps, remove Williams chassis, hold chassis in right hand, pinch off nose with left hand, drop chassis in waste receptacle. …..😊

Well, I don't know about pink slips, but I'd probably like to see how well it does against the Vision Line Genset  That one looks like an hour hand going down the track at speed step 1.

I think the Hiawatha has to give the Genset 2 & the brake ….no jump, chase is a race …

Pat

Is this the "How slow can you go?" race???? I read this yesterday about the Genset and I do recall someone mentioning about how it crawls. Are you all saying that after the Hiawatha gets its swap, that it would be a crawl to see who is the slowest?

The Hiawatha Crawls with the stock gearbox. It needs a proper replacement to get it to run at prototypical speeds. A passenger engine that only goes 35 MPH would be towed right to the scrap yard.

Some very interesting lunchtime posts elsewhere, I saw a video of this exact model without any upgrades other than I would imagine the routine ERR stuff, still same motor and lack of details(no crew, help) and over on FB details on the B&O page about how #490 came to be there. Odd though as I don't belong to the B&O group. Someone must be telling me to visit the museum at some point in my life.

Now that short video did make me think a bit. If you are someone who usually goes for high end, very big detailed models, why would you go for this one with just the bare minimum?  Yes the locomotive out of the box is something to behold, but there does need to be something else to it? Pat can attest about our back and forth about some details to be added including crew. When he did my 18009 Mohawk and told me that I was going to love the details including the backhead, I was trying to remember what it looked like since the only thing I could remember was the firebox glow. Going from the bare minimum to eye popping details like that are something you definitely look forward to, wouldn't you say?

Well, I'm definitely confused at the YouTuber who posted that, and had said in the past about having deck plates(cab aprons, whatever he called it). I sort of wonder if they ever got those upgrades?

Next stop: GGG's yard for PS-3 board ...

Can’t remember if the Royal Hudson has a 42-44:1 gear box or not, …..If it does, it’ll more than likely have to make a pit stop at my shop first to get the gearing & motor right so George can add PS3,…….but George don’t live too terribly far from me, so we can swap stuff back and forth without having a baby……

Those old Pulmor locomotives are built like tanks, ….So with some upgrades, not only can you make a very fine model, you also get indestructibility,……the gearing in these engines look like they could propel a solid die cast G scale model, let alone an O scale one….I swear they used tool steel wire to make the locomotive’s axles!…..
