Brother gave me three tinplate cars he found at an estate sale, beautiful condition. They are USTTC Terminal Railroad cars, named ERIE, #510,HURON #511 and SUPERIOR #512.

Question: Does anyone know who manufactured these and if so was there an additional car named ONTARIO?

Question: All three have single bulbs in them, screw in bulb not burned out, all wires and pick ups look ok but I cannot seem to get bulbs to light. Changed bulbs and no luck test track is clean and power to track is good. There is a single pick up with a single wire running to center screw in bulb. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for information and history of these cars. I have 1 car that I cannot get the interior light to light up. Track is clean, pick up has been polished, tracking and spring is good, took apart build, screw cleaning. All insulating rings in good shape, all wheels have been cleansed and polished and aligned, build is good. New wire from pickup to bottom post .Very frustrating, other two cars now work after cleaning and tightening.

Just keep check continuity from pick up to bulb holder, and holder outside back to the wheels(Without the bulb installed). You said the bulb is good so I assume you put power to it and it lit up.  Might be bad solder joint.  I have some usttc, but only freight and 1 caboose.  Not sure how the bulb holder is installed.  There has to be a gap somewhere.  Good luck on ever finding that last coach!

Thanks. Yes, applied power to bulb and it is good. No solder as wire from pick up connects to double bolt under floor . Bolt runs up and hold bulb base in place.I changed bolt thinking bulb wasn’t making contact but no light. Going to replace bulb / holder/ pick up  with modern wheel assembly , hopefully from MTh 710 series once they load up parts schematic.
