After being stored away for two years , due to a water problem in the basement, I am finally able to get my trains out and run again. I have three loops of track, all running through the TIU. Two are fixed voltage and one is variable

On the variable track, when I start up a conventional engine, it takes off like a bat out of h*ll.  The remote says the track voltage is 0. If I immediately use the control dial to turn down the voltage, the engine stops and then functions normally for the remainder of my operationing session.  However after I power everything on and off and come back the next day, I have the same problem. Any idea what is going on?

Try setting the channel to var mode with Menu/System/ DCS set up/ Select the var channel  and  hit  FXD. This will move the channel from fixed mode to var mode , (the remote will tell you what mode you've selected)

THE fxd is like a toggle switch...  with each press it changes the channel from fixed to     Var mode.  You should only have to do this once. The tiu should remember the setting.
