Thanks for sharing.
I can't see the price of it all?
Probably for the best!
Looks good! Great to see Sunset/3rd Rail is getting the ERR products out.
Awesome Alex, it sounds great. I guess Electrocouplers would have to come from Lionel still?
Excellent Alex!!!
Hi Alex,
I've installed the large steam sounds in a Williams Big Boy some time ago and the original speaker packaged was a smaller version (size) which was 8 ohm. I put two 4 ohm(50 mm speakers) in series, with the wattage being the same as the current (original) speaker. The speaker in your video, is it the speaker that was packaged with the kit, or did you put a different speaker into the system? Seems bigger than the one that I had come originally on the original purchase.
You gave me an idea with the magnet & reed switch to get an articulate chuffing sound out of the system, while you were demoing!!!

Good to see things working out well. I want to thank our new tech, Robert Lopez and Ken of ERR in Santa Clara for helping us get up and running so quickly. There are lots of little parts and things that need to be found and purchased that go in these kits. I've got a lot to learn. I have never installed the AC/DC commanders before, or Cruise M boards. But I am familiar with the Cruise Commanders, and Railsounds boards. We've been using them for 10 years or more.
Robert Lopez also runs a repair shop where he upgrades models for local model train folks out here, so if you have any questions you can direct them to him at: err@3rdrail.com Also, this forum is a great place to bring your questions and experiences.
Cheers,
Scott Mann

I about the same time you were posting your videos here I was running my Weaver M1a which you upgraded. The sounds are the same, good to see quality control and consistency. THANKS for posting
Scott
Great that you have taken over this product line and and commitment to support. BTW Alex is a GREAT technician and representative for the ERR product line and has many dedicated fans/customers here on the east coast !!!!

I haven't used an ERR steam sound board from the past few years. Is the chuffing pretty much the same as RS4 with the quiet chuff/BOOM BOOM chuff or is it more like RS5/LRS exhaust with multiple levels of intensity? I have one on order right now for one of my 3rd Rail Decs.

it is closer to RS4 then RS5 some of the sounds do have a different chuff at different speed. on the website there is samples of the sound files running.

Well Robert, I have to say I like these sounds better than ERR’s sound offerings in the past. The exhaust sounds are more in line with RS5 and LRS vs. RS4. Here’s a quick vid of one of my 3rd Rail Decs using the medium steam set demonstrating the different levels of exhaust (could be called labor) intensity (please note I don’t mean cutoff nor rate) as the engine accelerates and decelerates. I may order another set or two since this is so much more pleasing to the ear than the old RS4 based upgrades.
