From what I've heard mike isn't really into the subway market like he was years ago, he leaning toward the European market now, but I would also like to see some future plans for subway sets

U can tell mike not that into it look at the new ones they just made in 14 v2 catalog the sliver ones are all silver even the trucks and the r142 that came out in march had no red reverse lights but mike had been making subways for years im
More interested in Lionel who just started but it does not seem
Like they are going to continue i hope somebody asked a Lionel rep
What about subways made in brass would anyone like to see them made in brass. I know the details on brass are much better than the plastic ones.
I'll pass on the brass. I never liked the way the run. Not compaired to the mass produced stuff. DCS, Command Control, 120 mph YEAH....
It's true they don't run as good as the mass produced stuff but you don't get better detail than in brass. Example compare life-like subways trains they made or even Lionel the details and quality isn't as good as brass. IMO they are just toy trains with bells and whistles. One thing for sure the hobbyist of today isn't like the hobbyist of years ago. Back then you appreciated what you were able to get today we are spoiled with all these gadgets and many people today just wants RTR trains and very few care truly about detail.

I feel lionel puts alot more detail on subways then mth i feel lionel subway stick out more , just like their price tag, but mth had there run of subways and they did well when they had the mta license but now its lionel turn and they only came out with 3 models , and they should continue.
I agree with you but remember when the R16's came out and had window problems before you ever got a chance to run them. I remember when I bought a set many windows were out and I returned them for my refund. I know everything sometimes have problems but hey for the money you spend at least try to have a perfect car or have the examined before they are out to the public.

i sent my r16 to Lionel i did not have one window on the shell all were in the bag for all 4 cars but Lionel fixed it no charge at least they are not like MTH with the new r142 that have no reverse lights and have no fix for them , at least Lionel owned up and fixed them. i would love to see Lionel make more subway they make them really good looking especially the interior and i love how they included the full route of the line they are modeling
I am looking into possibly having subway cars made in brass in HO or N scale. O scale would be too expensive but HO and N scale can be less expensive than O scale. Plus if I do it in HO scale they would be DCC ready and will have passenger seating inside the cars with possible led lights if I want them put in. N scale I am not certain about being DCC ready but it would come with passenger seating and led lights inside the cars.
If I was to do O scale I would come out with the R68's and R44's. Like I said it would be expensive but they would come with passenger seating and led lighting.

I'd be very interested in purchasing accurate N scale models of NYCTA rolling stock. I've seen N scale TA equipment in the past but not often. I believe The Red Caboose in the city still has a few pieces in stock.
Bob
I am happy to see you are interested in the N scale models. Which types are your favorites and do you know other people that have an interest in purchasing them?
At the January Train Stock at The NJ High Railers I told Mike Wolf that I would be interested in purchasing the BMT Tri-Plex 6000 Series D Types subway cars but he did not seem to be interested. I would also interested in purchasing models of the R-68s, R-160s, R-44s, R-46s and the newest models the R-180s and R-188s. Maybe we've seen the end of any new model subway cars. Like Like/Model Power are out of business so maybe no more subway cars in HO scale? In the new pre-war MTH Catalog are R17 NYC Subway Cars in standard gauge however so who knows.

the strange thing is that they are remaking r-17 i believe (they are in the 2014 v2 catalog ) but they are not coming out with newer models which is very strange. whats the point of remakes not like subways where made 100 years ago thats why nobody is buying them everybody has what they are making, if they made new models people would most definitely buy them, the subway community on this forum is pretty strong not like we are not into subways no more the company are not
So Ed what are you looking for HO scale or N scale? See Calabrese the reason they remake those trains are because they already have the tooling for them they don't have to pay for a new tool. It cost peanuts to make the same cars all they have to do is paint them different colors it is cost effective for them. One difference is that they have PS-3 which will cost a little more but everything else is pretty much the same.
That is why I want to make them but they would be in brass but I don't no if there are more people that want HO or N scale. O scale would probably cost around $500 per car but it would have passenger seating and maybe interior lighting. Would people buy brass if there is nothing else available?
Ho scale for a 2-car set might cost anywhere between $600-$1000 and they would have passenger seating and interior lighting plus be DCC ready. As for the N scale a 2-car set might cost anywhere between $575-$850 and it too will have passenger seating and interior lighting. Also remember the details on brass are much better than on plastic.
It is most likely true that since MTH currently does not have a licensing agreement with The New York State MTA they are not planning to make any new New York City Transit subway cars but will still reissue the ones that they already have the dies for.
On the other hand Lionel has had such a license with them but has fallen very short on producing more then one basic subway car design and making changes to that die to produce the R27s, the R30s and the R17s cars. Any new subway car model in the future will be a surprise to me and most of us. Just keep riding the vintage subway cars this year. 4 announced trips so far for this year by the transit museum.

I have the Lionel r16 i honestly love it, i feel it worth the extra cash you have to give out to get i feel Lionel put in more effort , no mth subway has interior detail as much as Lionel and no mth subway had a whole route included such as Lionel , i wish Lionel would make more sets they look more vivid then mth imagine a Lionel world fair or a new train like an r160, i hope both companies are working on something

Walthers took over LifeLike several years ago, and integrated the subway cars into their Proto-1000 line of trains.
Stuart
My mistake. I meant that Lionel made models of the R16 subway cars most recently.
Glad to know that Walthers took over the HO subway car line. I know that Walthers had taken over distribution of the Life Like line some years ago.
