I made a post on the WTB form. Why can no one respond to it? I looked at a bunch of other post and some have replies but the majority don’t offer that option.

Why is that

https://ogrforum.com/topic/forum-rules

  • Once a listing is posted, the thread is locked as no additional posts or changes are allowed.
  • Sellers and buyers must include a way for members to contact them either within the listing or within their profile.  Any reports/alerts we receive that indicates there is no contact info, the listing will be deleted.

BTW, your profile does have your email- that is how people are expected to reply to your post- so you are good to go.

I obscured it because again, this how people are expected to reply, click on your profile and either PM you (provide they and you are supporters and have that option) or if not, use your email.

I also suggest that you check your spam folder regularly - emails from strangers sometimes land there instead of the inbox.

Just a side note, if you put you email in the message body and then do a google search everyone in the world can find your email and do nefarious bad-actor things with it. If the posts refers to your profile, then they cannot get it unless they are a member. Same for phone numbers etc. Something to think about...

THIS IS EXCELLENT ADVICE!

You should never - EVER - post your email address in text on the nest that visible to anyone.

Walt,

In the roundhouse vent thread, the replies were from Rich and Alan pointing out OGR products that fit the bill.

Admins CAN respond in the For Sale and WTB forums. Members cannot.

I'm guessing the other one was posted originally in the wrong forum, got a reply, but then was moved by the moderator to the proper forum taking the reply along with it. Again, just a guess!

You guess correctly, Jim. That is exactly what happened. The issue driving this is the administrators TIME. It takes only a moment and two mouse clicks to move a thread. It takes a several more steps to surgically delete posts within the thread.

Out of curiosity, I went back and found several others that had replies, not from the admins but from members.  Again, possibly Jim's theory is correct even though neither included a message from admin saying they moved it.

If an admin (there are several) moved a thread, he would not have made any note in the thread that it had been moved.
