@trumpettrain posted:FOR TODAY: Chucky and his friend Scooter ride their bikes down to the railroad yard hoping to see some action on the day before school begins. They definitely got what they came for!
"Wow!! A real buffalo!" Chucky exclaims to Scooter. Scooter is doesn't reply because for the first time ever he is speechless.
Both boys can't believe their eyes as Buffalo Bob Evans stands on the gangway coaxing this huge beast from railcar to trailer.
Later the boys find themselves riding their bikes between empty freight cars. Chucky says " "It's always fun to explore between the tracks. It's kinda like reading between the lines. You can always find something of interest." 🤓................................................................................................................If I were Chucky and Scooter I would have a hard time getting to school Pat.
Another great photo op Pat.
A couple years ago ( about 60 years ) when it might have been socially acceptable, there was a small neighborhood junk yard near the railroad tracks . It provided many hours of entertainment for a bunch of us kids ........especially when we got our BB guns. I can't believe we were so bad. I guess our electronic devices have made us more responsible ' kids ' now. 🤔😉
Curt, I like the scene directly above...nice job on the ballast too! I've got get in gear and start my ballast project...on second thought, maybe I'll wait for winter...
Sunrise at the "Charles Street Yard!" The General Foreman, George, stands by his maroon pick-up, viewing the operation to make sure everything is going according to the plan... Several diesels in for repair on this Monday in late August...there's a deadline in place

Paul that is a very good looking shot'... Plenty of room in the lot at the yard office'...Nice..👍
The following shots were requested by several Forum members'... Not completely sure why. I think you'll be able to figure it out though'.
Otto, Vicky's neighbor asks, where is her cousin, Lorraine. He hasn't seen her in a while. Vicky informs him she'll be here shortly for coffee...... Otto has a slight crush on Lorraine'... He also likes Vicky quite a bit as well...'Otto owns several buildings in the area, never been married, and is a very wealthy man. A good catch for sure'''.
Lorraine arrives for coffee with her cousin... Otto leaves to take care of business, in his brand new Mercury. He will return later to see his favorite blond.....
Lorraine also has a brand new Ford woody wagon, she wants to show her cousin. She is with a gentleman acquaintance. Let's hope Otto dosen't finish business early, as will be heart broken, seeing his crush with a possible male suiter'...

Hey Paul, spreading track ballast is a slow, tedious job, but well worth the effort. Curt

Mike, it's wonderful to see your progress on your new layout'... I see lots of track. That tells me there will be lots of action with plenty of motive power... I see a great layout in the making.... Continue to enjoy building..... Can't wait to see the finished empire'.... 👍😃
Jimmy D, nice job on the new tunnel. Does it have access to the interior, in case of a derailment?
Thank you.
yes. I have a little cutout on the backside in case I get a derailment. I made some rookie mistakes. No liner, but I might be able to paint the visible inner parts gray so you don’t see the purple foam. I also didn’t measure wide enough for some of my bigger engines. Had to hack away some inner parts so the bigger engines could get through.

JimmyD, that looks pretty good'.. are you going to landscape it a bit? some trees and a little shrub grass will bring it to life'.. Nice job on your first tunnel...👍

Thank you.
We have a bunch of WS turf, trees, and foliage to add. We are also going to add a waterfall on the side. That’s next.
Thanks Ted, I am trying to get to the point where I can run trains now and do scenery during the winter months!
JimmyD, Nice job on the tunnel! Just keep watching these guys cause they have a lot to teach!
Curt, that there my friend is one Amazing engine! Lucky you!
Sorry guys no photo today, spent the day stacking wood!
@Jimmy D posted:Hello all. New to the hobby. Just finished our tunnel. The bottom 4 inches will be covered which is why You can still see the white plaster. Thoughts?
Jimmy - your mountain looks fabulous!!! BRAVO!!! Love the darkened portals too!
Well, Ted, I didn’t mean to show off, well maybe a little. I saved my money for almost two years hoping Lionel would come out with a nice Legacy Northern. Then they came out with the 3751 last year, just my all time favorite locomotive. So I bit the bullet and pre ordered it. It is a thing of beauty, now let me tell you. Unfortunately, I can only run it on the 20’ long strait away. My Super O Track curves are all 036” radius. Go on youtube and key in “3751 high speed pass thru Poinsetta Station” and watch the restored 3751 make a high speed pass at 70 mph. It is awesome.
Hey Jimmy D, welcome to the forum. Great bunch of people on here. Your tunnel is awesome. I love the realistic colors. Curt
Quarter Gauger 48,
Your pics make me want to play that great city game, "Stoop Ball" with a pink "Pennsy Pinky" ball
Welcome to the Forum JimmyD. Your tunnel looks good. Like the guys said there’s a great group here. Keep posting lots of areas and threads you can be a part of the boys love pics as well as I do so have fun and enjoy it here.

FOR TODAY: The big hook BIG BERTHA has been set out on the team track and it looks like a crew is preparing her for operation. And dag!! There's that Chucky on his bike .... school has been in session only three days and that boy is already playing hookie!! That kid is addicted to the railroad! Looks like Chucky and his parents will be getting a visit from the school systems truant officer if this skipping school thing keeps up.

😒 Well Curt, you are not alone'.. I have a 13' straight a way, but the rest is all 36. So, I know exactly how you feel... When I constructed my layout, I wasn't aware of the many radiuses out there, and all the new technology over the past many years. So ,we live and learn. I have to dismantle my current layout, as we will be moving to our summer house permanently. The new empire will be at least 54 or wider radius...

😃 John, I used to play stoop ball when I lived in Brooklyn with my Grand Folks in 1962.... Hand ball too... in the alley of the projects... I appreciate your complements'.. and I'll have to produce more city scenes...👍
I used to play stoop ball and stick ball (using a cut down broomstick) in Hoboken. The balls we used were pink, and made by Spalding.
