The Plywood Empire Route and the old rich guy made an agreement to run his equipment as a tourist train.
So, after many years of vacancy the lights are back on in the old station!

The Interlocking:
What is now the Plywood Empire Route used to be a few miles of a Class I mainline. This was a junction protected by a manned Interlocking. Most of the mainline was abandoned following the Conrail breakup and what was once a branch-line is now a short stub siding where the old rich guy's equipment is stored between excursion runs.

The Meet:
{Well, not really}
The last time there was a meet at this spot was before the Conrail breakup. That is the daily Turn on the Plywood Empire Route, a 15mi remnant of a once-busy Class I Mainline salvaged at abandonment by a few local businessmen from Yinztown who wanted to maintain rail service to their enterprises. Oh, and that crack Varnish is really the old rich guy's 3 Budd cars and a salvaged F3 re-engined with a 567C Mill saved from scrap by the fitment of 645 Power Assemblies.

Nickel Plate Road no. 765 in Akron yesterday around high noon. This photo really illustrates the crowd that a steam locomotive can draw. Imagine this in downtown Fort Wayne year round. My photo.

Pennsyltucky backwoods railroading:
I took this Pic about a mile from Ed Abbey's (author of Desert Solitaire) boyhood home (Home, Pa on the Indiana branch of the BR&P RR). He wrote this old branch-line into his most literary work, A Fool's Progress.
