Santa Fe Alco-GE PA1 70L accelerates humble little Train 56, which makes all stops required to serve stations between Amarillo and Brownwood via Lubbock. Wallace White, number one on the Engineers’ Seniority list, is enjoying the warm cab, heated by steam coils under the floor, on this 30 degree October day. The dwarf signal governs movements to the main track from the Mullen Yard east freight lead. The express boxcar and the baggage car of storage mail behind it will be set out at Sweetwater, to be picked up by the T&P

While going through Timetables I found this flimsy (Train Order) transcribed by my Grandad 1/25/1912. My Dad was born a month minus a day later:

He was manning Monterey Tower at West Monterey, Pa and as you can read for yourself, the Order was for 1st #169 to wait at Foxburg until 7:50AM. Grandad took down the Order at 6:32AM.

Joe Fajardo and Ignació Cruz were sent out of the B&B gang to reposition the westbound advance speed board at Mullen, after the System Surfacing Gang went through.  Joe is commenting that those signs keep getting heavier and heavier, and, first thing when he gets home, he's going to pop the cap off of a cold beer.

Both men send congratulations to Brian on starting a thread that is now 100 pages long!
