I have noticed that when you click on pictures that are posted to the forums, some will enlarge into a nice bigger picture. Others remain the same small size. What determines which photos will enlarge and which ones stay the same? Then there are some photos that you can't open at all.

If you upload an attachment, and the original is larger than the presentation, it usually expands. However if you drag-n-drop a picture into the post, it will not expand. Here's three samples, the first is a direct link off the Internet, the next is an upload attachment, and the final is a drag-n-drop into the message body.
Here's a 1680 x 1050 photo, I'll first use a direct link from the Internet site.
Here it is using the Add Attachment feature. Notice this one expands when you click on it.
Finally, here it is by dragging and dropping it directly into the post. Notice this one doesn't expand when you click on it.
Attachments
Those that you use the attach file method and upload photos enlarge, especially if it's a hi-resolution photo. The mobile device users and others do a drag and drop or paste. That makes the image static.
I appreciate the attached images. Especially when I search for a fix and find a reply with the photos missing because they were linked or pasted.
user habits and lack of learning a few forum tools.
For the best results, you should always use the Attachment Feature. By doing so, the images are stored HERE, and they won't ever move. That means the image links will never break. Images that are displayed via hyperlinks or pasted into a post can ultimately go away, depending on a lot of variables.
What happens to photos pasted into a post Rich? Since it appears they're stored on the forum, I thought they'd be as permanent as the Add Attachments method. For instance, I dragged this and dropped it on the post.
I get the attachments box with the option of hiding the attachment box or deleting the clip.

Pasting a photo as you have done is the same as using the attachments feature. Just a different way to do it.
OK Rich, that's what I thought from seeing how the board reacted. It's a simple way to just plop a graphic into a post, quick and easy.
