Atlas remote track section exclusive quirk

I’m using atlas nickel track with legacy and DCS control. This loop of track is powered by a Z4K. When the engine pictured transitions the remote section pictured, it will get a short burst of speed. This only happens once every 3-5 loops as it passes over the remote section. I don’t have the activator switch connected at this time. I believe this happens when the roller pickup transitions the dead area (plastic) of the center button. This is the only engine in the herd doing this. Any ideas?

Thanks Rod, I agree, has to be something exclusive to this engine on that loop, runs smooth on the other 3. I guess 1 out of 3 ain’t bad. Just one of those annoyances! I’ll post if I find a cure…Rich

Probably because the power gets briefly interrupted and the Odyssey gets confused and gives you a burst of speed. Some versions of TMCC Odyssey have the "Odyssey Lurch" on power-up, that's probably what you're seeing.

For short engines like that with two closely spaced pickups, I use a one-wire tether to share the tender rollers, problem solved.

A battery will do nothing for this issue. The one-wire tether I use I make using machine pin sockets and pins. Obviously, the ones I use for a connection between a tender and locomotive are black wire, this example was used inside for an antenna connection.
