Hello,

I have a really nice looking Lionel 807 tinplate caboose.  It has the original paint job, with very few nicks and scratches, and it was the first 800 series tinplate car I bought.   The price for it was pretty low, and I wondered why.

It was only later, from buying other cars in the series, that I realized that the gold axle end covers (not sure if that is what they are called) are missing from this car.    There are no damage scratches or dents around the chassis axle hole areas, so it looks as if someone intentionally removed all four to put on some other cars.

Does anybody know of a source where I might find these four end covers?  (And what is their proper name please.)

Thanks,

Mannyrock

Just as an FYI,  not all of the cars came with journal boxes from Lionel.

The all green 807 for example is typically found without.

Nothing wrong with adding them if you so desire.
