Nice collection of Yankee stuff, Jerry. I have been a Yankee fan since grammar school. Mickey Mantle was my favorite. I did get to see him play when I was young. My oldest memorabilia is a picture of me and my cousin with Willie Mays in front of the visiting dugout and in the visitor's locker room at Shea Stadium and a score card autographed by the team. I have some newer items. I have balls signed by Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettit, Bernie Williams, Tino Martines and Paul O'Neil. My daughter has the Jeter signed ball. Back to trains, I like to run my Yankee train.

Pat,

That is a great Yankee train.  Love the triple track and carnival.  I see you also have that Yankee car with the facade.  Yours is the second one I have ever seen.

For people my age (65), Mantle is the ultimate.  It's cool that you have all the signed balls.  All my signatures are gifts, mostly from my son, who was a terrific player and still a big baseball guy.  The only one I ever personally collected was Bobby Richardson at the Hall of Fame.  He was my favorite when I was a kid.  I always wanted to play secondbase, because he did.  Never got to do it, though.  All my coaches found out I could throw hard.

I redid the downstairs bathroom several years ago.  Have a signed Guidry and Stottlemyre in there.

The great Yankee infield of 1961, my favorite team of all-time.

The center pic shows an enormously pleased Maris with Mantle on the day of his return to Yankee Stadium after all those years.  He died the following year.

Pat,

I was wondering if someone would comment on that one.  It was a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law.  He found the truck online and bought the NYC flatcar from Menard's.  Haha, I bet it was a lot cheaper making one, than finding one made by Lionel or MTH.

I can hardly stand to watch football anymore, but, he put together a NY Giant car last year.

Although I did not buy these locomotives, they were sent to me by Lionel to review for the magazine.  I got a text just about 30 minutes ago saying that the Legacy (2017 Signature Edition) Santa Fe SD40 #5006 and the StationSounds Pennsylvania Broadway Limited kitchen and diner passenger cars have arrived at my house!!  I am thrilled to be reviewing these products.  I am currently at school, but will post a couple photos and a video of the products after I get home... it will probably be around 4pm EST.  I can’t wait to see what they look like!  I know that they will be amazing!

Nice perk, Evan!  The hard part will be sending them back!

I’ll look forward to your photographs and video!

Yep!  It was last time when I had to send the LionChief plus SD60M back to their HQ.  Luckily, I will have the locomotives for a longer period of time and will make a video of the products and post it on our magazine’s YouTube channel, so stay tuned for that.  You will all have an exclusive look at the product as the YouTube video will not be posted until after Edition 9 is released!

WOW- lot's to catch up on here. Getting as busy as WDYDOYLT (think it through) thread.

Mike- that's a nice haul, your secret admirer must really like you.

Jerry- that is one amazing man cave/ train room/ memorabilia shop/ museum. Great collection of Yankee stuff. I grew up a Mets fan but I will root for the Yankees (especially if they are beating Boston)

Now I need to get back to buying stuff...it's been a week at least.

Placed my order Evan. sorry it took so dang long. Just keep forgetting to do some things. I guess I'm the guy with the messy desk, trying to find those few missing pieces of paper as it were.

RSJB18,

Thanks.  I never thought of the basement that way, but, you are quite correct.  We've been partying hard down there for 50 years!  The poker group will be making it 30 years in a row, soon.  The guys love watching those trains go by on the overhead during happy hour(s).

Also, watching that GREAT Yankee lineup trying to hit the GREAT Nathan Eovaldi, along with all those other chumps, makes me think of Butch and Sundance- "Who are those guys?"  At least Judge is hitting the ball hard.  It truly is GREAT to see the young lad back in there.

Also, I ordered a four pack of those new Menard's NH boxcars today.

Evan, The video last evening on Facebook showing them in operation was great too!

Thanks, Mark!  I enjoyed showing all of the features of the locomotive to you all.  Thanks for all who tuned in!  If you want to see the ~30min video of me reviewing it, click here!  A big thank you to Lionel for sending us these products for reviewing.

I will have to check that out myself. I'm usually on FB a heck of a lot and was wondering where I would go to see that. Thanks Evan.

I'm not much of a diesel fan, but I'll still watch regardless just to see whomever is saying what. I've watched a couple of people do reviews on YouTube, and I gotta say I like what they have to say even if its something I myself wouldn't buy because of my preference.

Also, I got a gift to self, a "new to me", Southern 2-8-2 Legacy Heavy Mikado #4866. I don't have a great photo other than just before I took it apart to service the smoke unit (the motors were loud) and make sure everything was fine under the shell:

She is beautiful, also my first legacy engine to date. It runs so good I literally bought a Legacy System to really take advantage of all the features this engine has. I've pretty much always been an MTH guy and have a DCS system as my local HS is heavy into MTH and I have never been let down by an MTH, something I can't say about Lionel but in their defense it was a lioncheif + engine I had issues with so I as a result I have learned that you get what you pay for, I digress, but I'm definitely glad I picked this beautiful steamer up, I definitely will keep my eye on Lionel steamers from now on.

Thanks!

Wow, that's one long sentence  ...but I totally get what you're saying regarding the beauty of these modern models. Having just purchased one myself, I too am quite taken with how nice these locomotives really are. Happy Birthday!

PS: You say "the motors were loud" regarding the smoke unit; that loco has a motorized smoke system? Not mechanical?

Mark in Oregon

Yep Matt sure did. About my year plus train budget...poof. lol

Not a very exciting picture but.

Picked up 4 engines in Mason Ohio from Rocky's that I been waiting on form the 2017 catalog  a while.

All Railking One Gauge.

3 Dash 8's and one BIG BOY. That thing is 60lbs in the shipper!!!

Haven't gotten time yet to take any of them out of the shipper cartons yet.

Still Having lots of fun

1:48. Brass. Weathered - apparently in a hurricane storm surge. Just got it yesterday. It will either go on a flatcar as a load ("Just pulled this one out of the bayou, boss; thought it was lost for good"), or attach some trucks given a treatment that approximates the actual weathering on the car - spot it in a setting similar to the one below.

-----

Taken 2012 or so at Mobile Rosin Company; old company, but still in business; these old tankers were scrapped sometime in the last 5 years. Note the old, plain-bearing trucks, long not permitted in interchange service. These cars had not moved for years.

I'm going to try to figure out a way to "decal" (just a few hints) the model a bit without destroying the car's, ahem, "patina".

Hard to believe that those "wandering gauge" tracks where my friend is standing were an important route to hotels and deep-sea fishing in south Mobile County in the 19th Century - the old Bay Shore Line of the Mobile and Ohio.

Only light industrial use, now.
