I just received these. I waited until I had them in hand before proceeding any further. The pics on eBay don’t show anything but the figures. I ordered what I needed🤞From Evans yesterday after I opened the box and was able to see what the whole item is. UPS just dropped off my shelves from Glenn Snyder an hour ago. I’ll be busy tomorrow.
Yup, UP Veranda 2133501. Arrived Tuesday afternoon, DOA. The pics tell the story. I know a bunch of you woulda just dove right in to(try) to fix. I’m not that guy. Called vendor(forum sponsor), told to call Lionel. Emailed talk to us with photos, within an hour and a half had RA. Arrived at Concord this morning. The wait begins.

III I needed to step up my MPC. I found this little gem this week at Nicholas Smith. It was sitting on top of a bunch new Atlas cars. The box is a tad rough but the car appears to be new. I’m impressed by the weight and the quality of the build of this car.

My pre-ordered Atlas Rock Island boxcar just arrived from Mr Muffins Trains. I'm not really a new boxcar kinda guy, I like the more budget-friendly used cars, but I "had" to have this really nice car since we used to live near the Rock's former Memphis to Tucumcari main line, now "rail-banked" I believe. Long live the Rock !

That’s a great car... do you have the rest of the set??? I have to agree - those cars from the late 70’s were very well made. If only they had detailed interiors The complete PRR set on the lower shelf was the beginning of my descent in to passenger car madness (followed shortly by an NYC smooth sided set above)!!! And at 15”, they look great on smaller layouts.

Not yet. Just one. And just got it. Of course it led to more before it came home. Ha. MPC Blue Comet in boxes now in residence this week too.

I'm always keeping an eye out for new and different freight cars. After scrolling through the newest Lionel catalog and taking note of the sky-high prices, it's a little reassuring to be able to spot something on eBay, NIB, for under $20.00 and sprung metal trucks to boot. How can you beat that?

We finally had a train show here in the San Francisco Bay Area last weekend and I picked up this beautiful postwar Lackawanna FM there for a great price. I had gotten my wife a new refrigerator the previous day, so I had her blessings to "buy something special" at the show - and this certainly qualifies!
BTW - it runs as good as it looks!

Went to a local hobby store and picked up a Lionel ZW-l to pair with my Base 3 I have on pre-order. The plan is to be able to run my conventional engines and new stuff together with the Cab 2 remote (#993 Expansion) set I was able to get from the same shop.

Nice purchase. I hope you have a roomy and strong control panel, because those are massive, heavy buggers. 😉

yeah, I was surprised how heavy it was! I have it on the floor right now for just hooked up to one track to test it out. you are 100% right; I have to get some lumber to reinforce the shelf unit I was planning on putting it on before I can fully hook it up.
Hi Ted W my Veranda Turbine 2133501 did exactly the same thing. I emailed Lionel service this afternoon and waiting for a response.

Scott,
There are a lot of ways this car could be used. Another would be for "Land Shark Beer"! And, a certain JB song that I know! Fins Up! __^__^__^__

Hopefully I can add more military cars to my Fleet. Happy Railroading Everyone

I love my L. So easy with my Cab 2 and without. I tried to repack it once and just gave up. Which I suppose is the point. Why should I ever want to put it away?
Found this Coors set collecting dust on the back shelf of a hobby shop.
I was an industrial mechanic for the last 20 yrs before retirement. I picked up this vintage 6519 Heat Exchanger car and this old 3520 Searchlight Car. Repaired a broken wire and that light really zings around! Hope to pick up a 3530 GM power car some day when the budget allows to build a "Industrial Train"

Just received one of my premier fish belly hoppers (the other is still in transit) from Nassau Hobbies. The detailing is outstanding and even the removable plastic coal load looks great. I’m surprised no one has done this more modern work train like color scheme before. Nice job MTH and Nassau Hobbies -

Hey saw that GM Power car you were looking for cheap at Trainz.com. Not postwar but for price might be a good place holder while save / look for it.

Also some reasonablely priced on auction sites.
I can't see the photos
I finally found a Lionel Acela - and zinc -free parts!
PRrick- thanks for head up! I just realized I couldn't find view them either. Same pictures and essentially same words from previous post:
I'm super behind on posting some really awesome stuff I've gotten since the New Year.
These two came in the mail yesterday(2/16/22). Both super cool IMO- Atlas Evans 53' double Plug Door Florida East Coast boxcar & CSX(ex-Conrail) Berwick Hy-cube!
Next:Menards American Materials plant from early January as a basis for an industrial siding and got the pair of Atlas ACF 3 bay Conrail hoppers about a week later. While the siding is short, the Plant makes great use of an underutilized corner space, just need to get larger turnout for accessing it
Last but certainly not least: Weaver Southern Pacific(Ex-Railbox) ACF type XAF 11 50' boxcar from ebay & Atlas trainman MoPac 50' boxcar(thanks to Trainz!).Got a great deal in both purchases- Railbox for $16 and the MoPac for $22. Added some patch decals to the SP/railbox. Very pleasantly surprised with the The Weaver Railbox, which came in the old Quality Craft box, it's quality and how it looks with other Railbox boxcars is much better than expected.
The journey to build up my Western rr locos and rolling stock continues!!

Last week my 1656 w/6403B tender arrived. Purchasing it I knew there would be some maintenance and repairs.
On the tender, replaced the rear truck, new male plug wire (one was approx 1" to short, I made a new one), reset the hand rail.
On the engine repairs, the left valve linkage (almost bought a new one then I noticed I can use one I had to make the repair) , new light bulb, female plugs in the cab were put in backwards (flipped it around), one red and one green front marker light jewels, took my time, (as we know these marker lights can easily break off) using my soldering gun to heat and loosen the glue and slowly work the green jewel out, replace w/red jewel. Cleaned both pieces up.
Runs like new, fast and strong.

My Menards 4 pack of USMC Gondolas arrive today along with a K-Line rotating beacon work caboose. I also won the bid on a Lionel marked work caboose. One of the two will end up being marked USMC to end my Marine consist. It will be my first attempt on repainting or remarking a piece of rolling stock.

These arrived today: a LIONEL twin motor F-3B unit frame with corresponding motor trucks purchased on line:
The twin motor B unit will join a twin motor F-3A unit to pull an 8-10 car NP North Coast Limited pax train (using LIONEL 15" aluminum cars w/ interiors) currently being painted. A dummy A unit will be the lead unit and carry the LED lights and sounds--at least that's the plan.

@Pingman very nice buy with that F3B frame and cool plan! I have similar plans and really haven't found a good place to start as I have a number of projects that are all somewhat related- but one of the end goals consists of a dummy unit with lights. It's great you were able to score a frame as I haven't been fortunate enough to find a decent frame, yet, that fits with what I'm seeking. Keep us updated!
@obxtrainman that is a really neat USMC consist!! Those gondolas by Menards are really nice and I like your idea to modify a work caboose and mark it USMC, should end the consist quite nicely. I'm a pretty big fan of military themes being present on a layout- whether trains, facilities, some type of "conflict", soldier placement, and/or vehicles. That 44 tonner looks GREAT with those gondolas- is it by MTH, Williams, custom, or someone else?
Here are two pictures of some of my military rolling stock
