Just snagged these on a buy it now for about $9 per car. Looks like two Lobaugh reefers, the 50 foot PFE and the 40 foot IC, one cast 55 ton hopper, several Athearn/ All Nation style boxcars, and a few others thrown in as well, all with trucks and couplers. I'd been complaining that there were no good deals lately, but have to take that back. Smaller market of interest for old scale kit built cars like these, but for less than $10 a car , this is a good deal.
Time for some SD70s!
Got this in the mail a few days ago, Lionel Legacy Kansas City Southern SD70ACe from 2008. Absolutely love it!
My current "project"- scored on the cheap at Hamburg train show at the end of January. K-line collector's club CSX SD70MAC! 2-11556(conventional*, RS, cruise)
*- asterisk because it actually has command boards. Project because the previous owners installed TWO motherboards- one that's for a small steam loco(691-PCB1-0B9) and small steam tender(691-PCB1-09F). REGARDLESS- very cool loco with a cool story!

p51…..Congratulations! I collect timetables and schedules for my favorite lines too.
@Dennis Holler Really cool assortment of freight cars at a great price from a neat period of time. I was always was intrigued by those types of kits from that era, at first I just found it cool/interesting that names like Athearn & Walthers, which I associate with HO, had been making things in "O" back then, at the same time as Lionel, American Flyer and Marx postwar. That intrigue was sparked by a sweet looking silver Rock Island 40' boxcar I had purchased- the wood frame, thin sheet metal and add-on grab irons just felt cool. I believe its either Athearn or All Nation. Then I dug a little deeper and read about the the desire for scale and kit building in that era. Those definitely hold a special spot in the scale movement and, IMO, when they're in the right condition don't look too terribly out of place with some of the modern stuff- depending on how you make up the consist. Regardless- really cool haul!
Some “new” MPC arrived at the house yesterday. These should nicely compliment the MPC Blue Comet that arrived last week.

That's really good looking Gary. Do you know what era would have used that paint scheme?

Hi Dave: The era would be the 50's - 60's by the logo design (Flag) on the loco, but I am working on a YT video for this locomotive & am still doing historical research.
Gary 🚂
I scored some scenery items. A Corgi garbage truck and a couple more dime store treasures
The water front in this area is still under construction.

Gary - Great Picture - Love It - can't wait to get my pair on the rails!!!
Picked up this tank car yesterday at the train show in Canfield, OH. The box is in tough shape but I doubt the car has previously been on track. Already have several three dome tank cars but for $20 (motivated seller) I now have one I was unfamiliar with and bonus, it has DC sprung trucks.

I like Nathans
One of the amazing features of this forum is the exposure you get to so may fine vendors/sponsors. And, over the last couple of months, I’ve ordered a bunch of items from a number of our sponsors and most of it showed up in the last couple of days.
First up, a tip of the hat to Trainworld for their Premier Nathan’s reefers. As Strap Hanger mentioned, the graphics are first rate - I got the pair. Growing up in Brooklyn, I was a regular visitor to the original Nathan’s in Coney Island (the food never tasted as good at any of the franchises!!!). It took me a bit to figure out why the green car was numbered 1310 - then it hit me… the original Nathan’s is at 1310 Surf Ave.
Next up a pair of Premier 2-Bay Fish Belly Hoppers - a special run from Nassau Hobby. I recently picked up the Metro North pair they did and was so happy, I had to get the Lawn-guy-lind version to add to my LIRR work train.
Next, from Mr. Muffins, a pair of Premier Borden’s Milk reefers (with the now noticed misspelling of Louisiana!!!). Like the Nathan’s set, they have beautiful graphics.
Finally, earlier this month, I got an email from Dorcie Farkash (@Traindame) at TW TrainWorx about a sale, so I decided to order their version of the center section of the Nicholson/Tunkhannock viaduct (which isn’t too far from my house). Although I checked the dimensions before I ordered, I don’t think I fully appreciated just how big it is (app. 34”x18”x5”). I am planning on using this as a display piece (I don’t think it will fit on my layout, but never say never!!!). Looking at the directions, the assembly looks fairly straightforward - my one issue is going to be how to paint it to look like the concrete original.

Nice haul, Apple. I held off on the red Nathan’s car, but now regret it. It really came out nice and goes well with the green ones. Don’t forget that the reason the red one is numbered 1916 is because that was the year Nathan Handwerker started his nickel hot dog stand on Coney Island.
Love the Nassau hobbies fish belly hoppers as well. I went with a set of the yellow work train colored ones.

Thanks, Strap Hanger. I understood the 1916 right off… if I dug around the boxes in the basement long enough, I’m sure I still have a few glasses from (if I remember correctly), Nathan’s 75th Anniversary. These two reefers will go nicely with the Nathan’s reefer I picked up from the NLOE a couple of years ago. I’m putting together a Brooklyn train - I have the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal 0-6-0T engine from last year, the Nathan’s reefers, a Renken’s milk car from METCA, and I’m expecting 2 Boars Head Reefers (also from METCA) by the end of the month.
My latest rolling stock purchases
Orange Blossom Special from Pats trains
Middletown & NJ from METCA
PRR Tank Cars from METCA
Boars Head Reefer from METCA
AMOSKEAG Box car from NETCA
WeaverIROQUOIS Reefer off internet
Had to get the Iroquois; that was my patrol name in the scouts

The MTH electrics, assuming they haven’t been bit by zinc pest, are all really nice. You’ll love it!

So happy to help, Bob I think you’ll love the Nathan’s cars.
Turnabout is fair play after all. You METCA folks have been happily spending my money lately… the Pennsy/LIRR milk cars, Renken’s, Boars Head reefers… and now I see you’re offering a pair of Boars Head TOFC’s. Might have to order a set of those!!!
Hi The 44 Tonner is MTH. Thanks for the compliment. I just tried a shaker can on an old hopper. The paint ran. I have a Badger Air rush I bought 20 years ago. I never tried to teach myself how to use it. I might do the 2 hr. round trip to the nearest hobby lobby tomorrow. I need everything that’s required to set up the airbrush to my small compressor. I also need the paints. This just got expensive. I really want to make this a nice consist. These are the things I set out to do 20 years ago when I started my layout.
For the love of goodness. I can’t figure out how to add someone’s post to my. As in to reply. When I tap on someone’s post I’m notified it was added to my clipboard. What clipboard? Haha, confused as usual.
OBXTRAINMAN
You didn’t mention a spray booth with a brushless exhaust fan. Unless you’re painting outside DO NOT PAINT WITHOUT A SPRAY BOOTH!!
WOW! looks like everyone's bank accounts are a bit lighter these days.....
Mine too.......
@Strap Hanger @Apples55- those Nathan's cars are sharp. Oceanside was my local haunt. Almost killed myself working in their electric service one day.....long story but the key word is almost..... The Westbury location is a Chick-fil-a now.
I bought this Atlas woodside refer a few weeks ago from a forum member. Goes well with the PC SW-8 I have.
Heading to Trainland later to pick up the latest purchases. Let's see if any puppies follow me home.

I just received my Nathan's Refer also, though, mine is in the red livery. What a GREAT model. Train World is a superb vendor with whom to deal!
An auction had a Sunset 3-rail car I have been wanting for a long time, but it was in a lot with several others cars. Not really expecting to win, I placed a bid for $200 and forgot about it. Well, I won which literally surprised me. With premium and shipping cost, total was around $250. Here is what I got:
MTH trolley. Have not tried to run it yet.
Unknown flatcar with tractors. No manufacturer's name anywhere.
MTH boxcar.
MTH coil car.
Three track cleaning cars
And the reason I bid on the lot, a Sunset brass 54' express reefer in as delivered ACL livery.
I plan to sell the MTH trolley, Amtrak and coil cars since they don't fit into my era/locale. I would have paid $200 just for the Sunset car, so getting the track cleaning cars was a bonus.

That's a nice haul for $250. I have a Northeast cleaning car. Works well.

Really like those cars/trailers. Good background items. Any idea who made them? Thanks.

Concur with that statement. I've purchase several items I did not know was available until I saw it on this forum.
Ron,
Congrats on that nice haul. The models that I posted are dime store treasures. I posted an ambulance a few weeks ago that I tripped over on the bay. I thought it was a long lost item. Several members replied that that were made around 2003. These particular models were mentioned and I did some searching. All the boxes are marked 1/43 scale.
That is the first up close photo that I've seen. Nice!!
Back from Trainland.....
Lots of neat toys to see. They had 3 of the new Veranda's up on the wall behind the counter. Those things are beasts! The Army version is the best with the painted nose.
I almost added a LIRR trolley (MTH) to the trip but decided wait.
