Went to the Firelands train show in Mansfield Ohio today. Got there in the early afternoon. Walking through I spotted this PC ore hopper, which I didn't have, for 10 dollars. No box for it. I stopped at Brummy's and got a bag of aged cinders for the freight yard in the basement. Then the wife and I stopped at nice restaurant in the Mansfield area before heading back home. So all around it was a good day. Pics of my buys..................Paul

The mail carrier delivered my Toonerville station today. Very cool !!  It is on my layout but plan to move it to a more prominent spot.  Bought it from the OGR forum.

Today, , I was at the final day of the American freedom Train reunion in Portland. In the gift shop of the enginehouse that houses 4449, 700, a, ALCO PA among other treasures, I bought this NKP 190 pin for the PA that was sitting outside.

But best of all, from someone at the reunion, I got this keychain and pin, which were given to people who worked on the train from 1975-76. I also got my copy of, "All Aboard America" singed by Doyle McCormack (whom I have met a few times over the years) and Ross Rowland himself, the guy who got the Freedom Train out on the high iron in the 70s. I saw the train in my hometown in Florida a week before I turned 7, and I have never forgotten any tiny detail of the experience.

I met several people who worked on the train and had some very interesting discussions, having got many things I had always wondered about answered...

The biggest reason I went was that I'd long ago promised myself that if I could meet Ross in person, I was going to thank him for a very special memory of my childhood. And I fulfilled that promise this afternoon.

I too have fond memories of that famous train back in '76.  I had just graduated from college, and missed suing the train in my home state of Western Pennsylvania.  I started working in Richmond, Virginia in July, and soon after it made a stop in Richmond.  While I didn't meet anyone special, I saw every bit of the train and locomotive.  Your mementos you just got are great!!!

When I recently bought my last postwar Trainmaster, a Virginian road name, I thought that I had all the Trainmasters I needed. Well you know how that thought works out. I just received another great postwar trainmaster in the Lackawanna road name. This one looks to be all original with original instruction sheet and in excellent condition, even the horn works! 

I was at Charlie Ro's this morning dropping off a ZW-C for repairs.  I picked up the MTH Premier CONRAIL 65' Mail Boxcar.  It's almost as long as a passenger car.  I've not seen one of these b4.  Lots of extra detail including added metal grab irons & ladders.  I also picked up a Bachman SceneScapes asst. to get the blue "outhouse" for a construction site, and a couple 40" straights.  When I got home there was a FED-X package from Mario's Trains.  In the box were 2 MTH RK Husky Stacks.  The CSX has an ETD on the back end.  Free shipping from Mario's on Web orders.  PS I like the RK Husky stacks better than the Premier. It's certainly not price anymore.

Today USPS brought me another Weaver flat with trailer from Public Delivery Track. I feel lucky to find them. Going to local train shows I haven't had any luck lately. But I'll keep on looking. Pic of the new addition.....Paul

4 bags of popcorn.  The first I ever purchased while on a moving train. 

Ok, back down to earth.  A couple of weeks ago I picked up a serviced, fully track ready Lionel 2035 for $180 at Ohio Station Outlets in Lodi and earlier this summer I found a serviced KW for $50 at the Hartville flea market.

On my visit to So Cal I went to Milepost 38 hobbies.....a great store....and found a K-Line scale baggage car in EsPe Daylight colors mint no box for $19.99. Pics soon.

I just got this today, came form WickedWanda at Tony's Train Town. Brand new Lionel JLC GG1, never run, no box for a great price. I got it on her lets make a deal post. Hit her up and get it going. Shes clearancing out that store and it looks like they got some good stuff and at great prices too.

Last night I got to run my new Lionel GLA Hoppers. This makes 21 coal hoppers - 6 Weaver, 6 Lionel, 9 MTH. This makes a sufficiently long coal drag IMO.

My ERR upgrades came in from Hennings today.   Thanks Ron, Bill and Harry!   The install will happen to this rendition of ole' 765,  MTH's first scale version from back in the PS1 days.

Better still, once I got a better look at the logging book, I saw it was author signed!

Just got this MTH Railking "Imperial" 0-8-0 steamer. This is a beautifully detailed locomotive and the PS3 steam sounds are great.  Pulls like a mule and smokes like the Dickens.  I plan to re-letter/decal it for another RR. 

Today I decided to try the Berea Train show again. And glad I did. They had more O gauge this year I found this Weaver car in one of the halls. Pic...........Paul

Picked up the MTH CN ES44 from Berwyn Trains. Didn't know until I brought it home that both ends have operating ditch lights. Really cool feature!! 

Picked up up my GS-4 and Vision Line SF reefers from Grzyboski's today...

The engine is beautiful - there are no white walls, but it appears that the "rims" are a lighter shade of gray and there are white stars at the center of the drivers. There is some incredible and delicate applied detail on both the GS-4 and the reefers - I would be very careful around small hands (probably big ones too!!!). I don't use smoke (except in very rare cases) so I can't comment on how that feature works. I definitely prefer the whistle to the horn, but the horn is interesting.

And finally, on the way to pick these up, I had to hit Hallmark and get the special gold 773 ornament.

Feels like a personal triumph, when we make those acquisitions, doesn't it.

Nice!  I have that in Western Maryland scheme.  Yes it is a good puller.

 Last week I decided to bid on an auction that had a low starting bid on both sets of the Canadian National Budd cars, 6-18506 & 6-18512. Both sets are new, never ran, the non power set was still factory sealed. When the auction ended, nobody else bid on the sets. With S&H the price for both sets was about  what one set sells for. I already have a complete set of four Canadian Nation Budd cars, so I'll pass the bargain on to a friend who is new into model railroading.

It didn't come with the layout already installed but it's got s decent unfinished basement that can handle a good layout but I can't get too crazy cuz when I get the next one I've gotta move out of this one
