Atlas O Central of Georgia 50-footer. I wanted on of these for a long time. I finally got one last week. Here's a little info from the Central of Georgia historical society.
1) The famous "blimp" scheme was only used on 50' boxcars.
2) This paint scheme was always black car with aluminum oval. Car ends were black. The lettering on the aluminum oval was black and the lettering on the black background was aluminum. Cars 5500-5999 had aluminum roofs, while 1500-1999, 4999, and 6217 all had black roofs. The monogram had a yellow background with black lettering. (The purple/silver and boxcar red/silver model versions are not prototypical.)
3) There were three lots of these cars, all built by Pullman Standard. CG 5500-5999 were built in 1954. CG 1500-1999 were built in 1956. CG 4999 and 6217 were built in 1958, apparently as replacements for wrecked cars.
I don't believe that any of these cars were ever repainted in the blimp scheme by the CofGa shops. I do have a painting diagram dated May 30, 1958, which shows the application of the standard boxcar red "The Right Way" scheme on these cars, but I've never seen a photo of one that was repainted that way. Several were eventually repainted into the post-merger scheme with block type Central of Georgia lettering.

Bought this used KLine DL&W Hudson (3238-1152S)…but it really wasn’t my fault ! Ed Boyle made me do it ! In Run 295 (Dec 2017) he did a nice write up on this engine and I’ve wanted one since. But since I have a 1-steam engine rule, my 6-18003 DL&W Northern is being sold to make room for the Hudson.
Is the one engine rule additive or multiplicative? Seems to me 1 times 1 still equals 1 so you really only have one. Can't sell one you do not have.

OK - I am sort of in the category of "bought this for fun, not sure its cool!" Anyway, went to a train show over the weekend and after looking at all the stuff I couldn't afford, I went looking under the tables for stuff to augment my summer layout and /or which would interest my 7 year old nephew who visits and plays.
So strictly for the summer layout...a Bachmann crossing gate with box. I estimate this is 1950's some time as the address does not have a "zip" code which means its prior at least to 1971, so its been around awhile. A plastic car by Thomas, I would place the styling of the car at late 40's. Our family '48 Pontiac sort of looked like this.
Now for the fun items for sure...a Lionel tool shed, all nicely detailed and painted and a "bag" of farm animals both were $1 each. The animals include 4 pigs, 5 cows, 1 lamb, 1 turkey, 1 dog, 1 cat, 2 horses, 4 chickens and 2 ducks - now that's a haul for a 1$ bag!!
Well that's my haul from the show...these items will add some "scenery" to my summer layout and give my nephew some items to move around or maybe put in the gondola for a train ride.

Ok @Yellowstone Special, my MTH gleaming chrome Sante Fe REA Refrigerated Express car arrived today, (LegacyStation) it’s not connected to the train but soon will be. I like it. I also like your Union Pacific car, and I did see a B&O blue car near Pittsburgh, C. T. McCormick Hardware, I’ll be calling them…. Nicely made rolling stock by MTH. Happy Railroading Everyone

Last week picked up a Lionel 1950 Golden Anniversary set (no boxes). I would call the cars excellent condition and the engines only very good (stains, weak paint in some places, some mold release present) but with very nice decals. There were a few other pieces (132 station, 364 log loader in box, 3472 milk car, 3461 lumber car). The owner asked for $250 for everything and I think I can get about $50 for the extra pieces so $200 for the Anniversary set seemed like a good price. I cleaned the engines up a bit and the set runs great!
While I was working on installing my new Emilio's Ristorante Italiano building posted earlier in this thread https://ogrforum.com/...8#164024807503081338 , the following showed up at my door! Emilio's is in the background with the outdoor tables and the green window awnings.
To make a long story short, I have been looking for the Lionel Legacy Southern Pacific F7 Black Widow AA (6-38757) set from the 2013 catalog for a couple of years now with now luck! I found this Lionel LionChief Plus 2.0 SP Black Widow F3 AA (2034130) from the 2020 catalog at Trainworld, and on sale! I decided I would try it out knowing that LionChief is pretty low end compared to Legacy and also semi scale. But Beggers can't be choosers as the saying goes, so I bit the bullet and went for it. At least now I have SP Black Widows on my layout.
Here's the Black Widow parked next to my Western Pacific Legacy F7 ABA set, and even with the Black Widow further back than the Legacy F7, you can see the difference. But, once the F3 Black Widows are running they look pretty good. Here's a video below pulling my K-Line not so prototypical SP Daylight passenger coaches. The consist still looks pretty with Black Widows pulling the Daylight paint scheme.
The quilling horn is a little sick sounding, but it only seems to be a problem when I'm running it with a CAB2 in TMCC mode. It much prefers to be run with the Lionel LionChief App connected with Bluetooth.

Nice deal, you could probably get more than 50 for the extras. That is a desirable set.

They look brand new great find. I don't do modern trains, but I like stack trains when their multicolored.
WOW! This is an UNDERSTATEMENT for this car! No wonder why this car has become hard to find!
Although a faux car for the ATSF prototype, it looks good. The pictures DONT really show the graphical impact of this car. Unfortunately the simulated preforated sides did a number on the blue logo application. The car still looks eye catching especially when surrounded by a sea of ttx yellow from previous runs.
I also picked up these two while im at it.

Well I posted this on the "Marx Trains" thread but thought It might also be of interest here. I found this Marx mechanical set at a local train show last weekend. It dates from 1952 and it appeared in the 1952 Sears Christmas Wishbook for the amazing price of $4.98. What I found so fascinating was the condition of the set. The cardboard sleeves separating the pieces were still present, the track is shiny, and the trains look as thought they have never been out of the box, at least not very often.
Here is the box cover, colorful and a little worn but not too bad for 70 years old!
The contents of the box inside, including the original cardboard sleeves to keep the items from scratching each other.

The rolling stock from the set. The wheels on these don't even show any significant usage.
Oh and almost best of all...the ORIGINAL KEY was still in the box.
Well its not the most rare set but I thought the condition at its age warranted me posting it for everyone to have a look.

Wow, @MartyE, now that’s dedication, special Tee shirts for attending York, and you’ve chosen a very cool design, however I do not see “2022” on the shirts? I like the slogan “Traincation,” and the steam locomotive. I suspect this will allow you to wear these shirts to future York meets. I will miss the LUG meet this year but I’m hoping you will give a detailed update after York. Thank you for sharing and showing your new creative tee shirt to us here on the forum. No date so I and others can wear it every year. No LUG meeting this year. Without Lionel it makes it difficult.
