Try using a dedicated piece of track to program your locomotives. Make sure the track is clean as well as the locomotive wheels and rollers.
Also, if you have multiple TIU's make sure only TIU 1 is powered up when programing.
I have a TIU on the layout, and also one on my bench. If I have a problem adding a locomotive on the layout, I stick it on my test track on the bench. If I can't add it there, then I assume the engine has a problem and proceed accordingly. Yes, I do make sure the layout TIU is off before trying to use the bench system.
The engines that work fine. If you run them over to the block you are trying to add your engine and do a track signal test. What do you get for a number ? If it’s on the low side. Find an area that gets a 10 and try adding it there.
Hello Dave,
Problem has been solved. The frame that the wheel sits in has a crack. The prevents the wheel from being sturdy enough to make contact with the transmitter.

Well I made a program track and went thru finding the engines and did a factory reset and all is well. Thanks to all of you for.
