Hi Everyone finally acquired a MTH 10-1062-1 Baby Blue Comet ( Proto-1) before i start up was told to check/change battery-
But heard something about converting it to an MTH BCR type... Is that basically a rechargeable battery made for my train?

I want to know myself. Have made a point to only pay attention to PS3 equipment from MTH for a long time. If I want to buy any "affordable" MTH subway trains and Amtrak Genesis locos, they will have to be PS1 with the batteries that folks are always talking about and not in a good way. So I will learn with you about BCR.
Have you tried the SEARCH feature here on the OGR Forums? There should be a terrific amount of information pertaining to the "BCR" (Battery Capacitor Replacement) item.
Kevin also have the 7 train!- MTH Railking #30-2274-1 64 World`s Fair Subway set- Does that have a battery?
BCR is a brand name for a supercapacitor which replaces the battery in PS1 & PS2. It is a third-party product. It is available in two versions: one to replace a 9-volt (actually 8.2-volt batteries in older MTH) and the other to replace the 3 volt (actually 2.4-volt) in later PS2 locos. The 9-volt model has supercaps in series with Zener diodes to keep them even; it is patented.
It is not a battery, but has the capability of storing enough electrical power to keep the electronics (NOT the motor) operating as necessary for a proper shutdown or to precluse reversing upon a very momentary current break.
It is a capacitor device that takes the place of the battery. You charge it for a few minutes prior to moving your PS1 or PS2 engine (while it is in "reset" mode). It generally prevents the chip issues of PS1 and obviates the need to charge and/or replace the battery in either PS1 or PS2.
PS3 engines have this component essentially built in.
How much & where can I purchase a BCR battery for my MTH 10-1062-1 Baby Blue Comet 263E engine?
Further to something Uberstationmeister said and what's stated on J and W's website, you charge your engine first for a minute EACH time you're going to run a BCR equipped engine; but unlike a typical MTH battery the BCR never needs to be replaced. Hence, there's no chance of destroying a PS2 (and/or a PS1) circuit board from a dead battery.
Hot water...if everyone used the SEARCH feature...there would be no active "conversations." There's nothing that has not been discussed numerous times on this wonderful forum. Is there ever anything truly "new?"

Hog wash!

Yes, every day, especially on the Real Trains Forum.
The search function of this forum is not the greatest, you would be better off searching google and the right thread will pop up. Otherwise ask away.
I agree with Hot Water 100%. This forum would come to a virtual grinding halt if the discussions were limited to "new" topics only.
