Is there a way to remove/do away with the switch controller that comes attached from factory if you are going to operate switches by command with Cab2 controller?

Yes. Just disconnect the wires from the controller at the switch terminals.
Which switches are you speaking about?
I assume that you are talking about Fastrack remote control switches. That being the case, the answer is yes. You can upgrade the switches using the ERR switch commander. Go to the Electric Railway (electricrr.com) and read the instructions. You will need to open the switch to verify that it can be upgraded.
The actual upgrade is ridiculously easy. I did 10 of them and didn't the need the instructions after the first one. The only challenge is the 40, or so, screws you have to take out get inside. The results are worth it.
Good luck.
Dan, I think he already has command switches, so all he needs to do is take the remote switch off.
Yes they are the Lionel 072 Fastrack remote/command control switches. Do you just take the back off of the switch, loosen the screws on the terminals (4) inside the switch and pull the wires out? Why is this not covered in the manual?
Bobby, I didn't realize these were command control switches.
Turn it switch over. There are small screws that hold the wires in place. Loosen the screws (do not remove them) and slide the wire out. You will also need to loosen the screw on the clamp holding the wire.
No need to take the back off, as Dan says, just loosen the four screws and pull the wires out.
Thanks to everyone who has helped with my switches. Especially Gunrunnerjohn who came up with magic trick of holding your hand over the switch to get it to work and it did. Then removed the back of the switch and moved the internal antenna around, put switch back together, works perfectly. Can't believe there is nothing in the owners manual that deals with trouble shooting.
Bobby Cox,
Did you purchase your FTCC Switches used, the new switches come with the controllers unattached to the switch, and you must install them. There is a full set of instructions in each new FTCC Switch box. If you purchased the FTCC Switch as new and the controller was installed, somebody used it before you got it. I have quite a few and never got one with the controller hooked up. I had to install all of them for usage.

Bought my Lionel Fastrack Remote/Command Control switches new in factory sealed boxes from Charles Ro @ York this Oct. They came with controllers attached. Will try removing controller wires in next few days.
My brand new O72 Command Control Fastrack switches also came with the controllers attached to the switch body. I think Dave got used ones and doesn't know it.
