I am in the process of doing a PS2 (burned up board) to PS3 conversion on an MTH DC3 track inspection car for a friend.  I have been making good progress and have now gotten to the point of installing the new PS3 tachometer reader on the on the motor.  The old PS2 plastic tachometer holder does not have a wide enough slot to hold the PS3 tachometer card.  So I will have to use the new plastic tachometer card holder supplied in the upgrade kit.  My question is what is the secret to getting the old PS2 plastic tachometer holder off of the motor.  I don't see any easy way to remove the flywheel from the motor, but it looks to me like the PS2 plastic holder was installed before the flywheel was put of the motor shaft.  any help from the Forum members would be most appreciated.

Hi! John,

Thanks! That is some tough plastic, but with a razor blade and a pair of needle nose pliers I got it off, hopefully without damaging the motor.  Your advice is most helpful and appreciated.  I have a number of these conversion projects stacked up, so I am hoping that after doing the first one things will go more quickly as I get further along the learning curve.
