Went down after dinner and put on first coat of earth color. So that's a wrap for the night. If my brick paper does not come tomorrow I'll just finish my Cooter's building and start another building. If my switches would come I could go back to working on the grain elevator area. Pics............Paul

Looks like the industrial designers had a free hand. They certainly did a nice job. Look at the curved grill. Also the lines of the lower frame. They also have nice curved lines. Even the hand rails have style.
The "Red Monster" made its inaugural run in the wee hours of Saturday morning...
Believe it or not, the time on the clock is pure coincidence.
One mod I think I'll make is to reverse the motor leads so that the electronic reverse unit defaults to long hood forward...

Just installed my first full DCS system. I have been using the DCS commander for around 2 years and finally went ahead and got the TIU and remote. Haven’t used many of the features yet but it was great to be able to run more than 1 engine at the same time. I can see I might finally be able to justify a Z4000 transformer in the future.

Paul I am with Jim! Even though he tries to store his engines in the china cabinet ! Your work is great and I too will be asking for advice from you when the time comes!

Before you reverse the leads, aren't you running the engine backwards??? With all of my engines equipped with pantographs, the active pantograph is in the trailing position.

So here I am at work in my lab on the weekend. I had just received a new server for a piece of equipment and it had some packaging that I though could be of some use.
Hot Water had told me that i would need a platform for diesel servicing ... and well, here is a first run at it. Wonder if it'll paint well.
If not I'll go wood instead. Need a lower one for the steam engines too.

Somehow, I think it may be too high and difficult to paint. That being said, Mitch would be very proud of your scrounge!!!
Too high* is easy to fix with a razor blade and cut between the layers. The difficult to paint would be a problem though.
*It's roughly 2" high, which makes it about an 8' tall platform. I may need to shave 0.5" off.
I'm not sure how well that will work. The foam looks very porous, so your going ti get a very "aged" look. If it is soft foam, the paint will crack it time from handlings and may warp too. You want a stiff, small pore foam or styrofoam blocks for packing. It is easier to work with than wood, and doesn't look like wood. I have no fear of woodwork, I love it; foam is much easier.
That sure does pop Mitch, like a jersey.

Well, since there's only one pantograph... ;-)
RTC operating preferences, for the occasional non-center-cab hood unit, is long hood forward for safety reasons (i.e. the engine driver is no longer first on the scene in the event of a crossing incident). Plus, the horn is facing that direction. And the stickers, too.
From a model standpoint, I prefer having the non-powered truck to the front, as one has less problems with "torque steer" that way.
And ya gotta admit, a pantograph makes one heckuva hood ornament!

I tried out an elevated 0-27 trolley line on the work site micro. I'm considering bending down to 0-17", for the el curves and squaring it into the corners more. I think I'm going to fab some cantilevering deco-industrial swiss cheese arch supports too

I think the idea of an elevated 027 trolley line on trestle is a great idea and I would do that on my own layout if I had the space.
My layout is long and narrow, and loaded with postwar accessories. I chose the accessories over the trolley line on trestle. Having both would make my layout hopelessly cluttered.
You might consider the Lionel trestle sets for your elevated trolley: either the graduated trestle set, or the one with all tall trestle, or both depending on what you want to do.

Congratulations! Please do your self a favor now that you have the full DCS system .... don’t wait two years to purchase the DCS Wi-Fi module .... running the trains through an iPad or smartphone is so enjoyable compared to using the DCS remote ... for example ... if you have a subway with station stops ... it is much easier to program the stops in “learn mode” ... in general the whole system is easier to read on the tablet or smart device ....thus, making for a very enjoyable experience ....

careful with those things. They can cause all kinds of trouble. When it gets warm they like to migrate down hill disguised as water

OK guys now give me a little credit here lol I got her one of those in my first O gauge purchase!! That was partly my justification for buying that lot lol I got her the Lionel peanuts group for Valentines day with a few Valentines Snoopys. Been trying to find the older Snoopy boxcar. And will be getting the 3 Snoopy/peanuts boxcars that will be out this year (if they make them) ALMOST had the peanuts Halloween train too! She didnt like it....................?????

All I have managed to do recently is track planning and emptying out the future train room.
In the meantime I started working on my first O Gauge Building, its been a learning experience. Some styles and techniques carry over from scale to scale, and others do not. Still a lot of work to do.

Brian Mustang, I like the B&LE ballast cars. I knew you must have had something in B&LE Orange! I recall seeing photographs of your kitchen trains, but it is more extensive than I thought. I'll bet you are in a small minority who have made inroads to that room of the house.
Paul, I like the wooden road crossings. That is like what I recall from the B&O near home. Asphalt was used there, but concrete works too.

Dag nabit here I thought I was on a roll!! Got to thinking last night. I need a switch to set up a spur so I can serve my new Menards power with coal. And here is the problem. I dont have a singe car with coal!!! Guess I'll have to purchase some! Still doing some cleaning in the trainroom. Have a bunch of stuff I need to toss in the garbage. And some good workout equipment that I cant even give away!!! Tonight I plan to take down another shelf above the layout and move it to another room. UGGGGGG
