I get that something as exacting as cad would be hard and your penchant for exacting detail is partially because of small scale inclusions, possibly "peer pressure" and reputation, or just because you prefer it, but again; "nothing".

I have made due with plastering photoshopped images into a collaged image; and later, track other than that to be used on the layout, and even mixing of brands to get me closer to realistic eyeballed measurements of Super O before I had encountered SCARM (which took it all to a new level, thank you).  I made a lot of progress with my ideas with just the graphics.

Basically, I think a more image oriented app vs a cad type might a foot in the door for now ( with the SCARM name attached, an ad ) if nothing else.

I won't hold my breath But give it some more thought and/or pass it on eh?  Exacting is better, unless nothing is the alternative 🤔

Hello SCARM users!

Back in 2016, a forum member named @Ace posted some screenshots showing what looked to be GP9 locomotives on a SCARM layout (see image below.)  I have SCARM and also purchased the Model Trains Simulator extension, however I cannot find where the GP9s can be downloaded for use in the simulator.

ACE GP9s in SCARM

I've been told that Ace doesn't post on the Forum anymore, so I was wondering if any of you could provide a lead on the GP9s, or for that matter, any other North American locomotives for the Model Trains Simulator extension, besides the SD40s.  I don't mind if they're payware.  Some USA passenger coaches would be great too.  Thanks!!

Steve, I’ve never had a problem with a SCARM update during the 6 years I’ve been using it, so I install them as soon as I know about them. ..just finished the install. It’s a painless and quick process.

Thanks Dave.  I just did a precautionary reboot and afterwards, the upgrade was a piece of cake.  I look forward to checking out the new features.

I also want to offer a big thank you to @Mixy Milen Peev for developing and continuing to improve the software.  I'm a big fan of your work.

Thank you guys and sorry for my late reply

Dave already posted what is new or changed from the version history, but that is the short info. More details are listed here:

SCARM v. 1.8.0 Released

What else may be interesting for you are the new SignatureSwitch libraries in O gauge which are also added in this release, updated Ross switches (90 deg crossings were added), fixed Lionel KLine streets library (the pieces in it were disturbing the colors in 2D), and may be one more new library from Lionel, which however is in a new so-called "Ready-To-Play" gauge.

Hope you will like the new version

Mixy, any plans to make something for us Mac users?

Having recently started switching to Apple with the iPad Pro, iPhone Pro Max and Apple Watch 6, I’m hoping someone with a Mac Pro will chime in and say Wine works on it. My Windows laptop still works, but I’m looking ahead to the day it stops. I don’t intend to replace it with another laptop, but I might invest in a Mac Pro if it’ll run SCARM with Wine.

@SteveH posted:

Russell, Is the 3D render working for you?  If so, what versions of Linux and Wine are you running and on which Laptop graphics processor?

Steve,

The 3d graphics works as well as the simulator.

I am running Linux Mint  20.1 Cinnamon and Wine v.5.  My laptop is an old Acer with a Haswell ULT integrated controller.

I was having some problems with the licensing, but Mixy was able to get it going on his end.  The Wine v.5 works much better than the earlier versions I had on this computer.

Russell, that's great news!  Thanks for the information.

@Kelpieflyer your findings with SCARM V( 1.8 ? ) running Wine v.5 on Linux Mint 20.1 may be helpful to others outside the OGR forum if you were to post them to the mac section of the SCARM Blog.  The latest update as of Nov. 8 2018 in that section of the blog about the 3D render issue appears to be unresolved.  But, I'm not sure if it's noted as workable now on Macs elsewhere on the SCARM site.
