I have a brand new MTH SD70ACE with Proto 2. It only has one pick-up on the entire locomotive. This does not let the locomotive travel over switches or uncouplers. My local hobby store is not responsive. It has been over a week and they still have not tried to reach the factory(they are to busy). Can anyone confirm that is should have 2 pick-ups and any good way to get parts and tech support from MTH. It is also missing the internal wiring for the 2nd pick-up.

That's weird one . A diesel should have 4 pickups.2 on each truck. When I pulled up a random SD70ACE operators manual on mthtrains.com, it showed 2 on each truck. You should have a picture on the lubrication page of your manual. Can you take a pic and post it here? To get a hold of MTH you need to keep trying their number during business hours 410 381 2580. It is a VERY busy time of year at MTH.tech support.

If it was me I would take it back for a refund so those bozos can get the message about defective products being bad for customers and bad for their business.
hello bpeglowski.........
Did you buy it new as it looks like it been used. You can see the wear marks on the wheels or ran it before founding out the roller pick up is missing ?

If you purchased it from the hobby shop, why not return it?
Is that the Dummy Version with lights only in the wrong box? It does look like it is not new, but used. I would return it.
I have been running it this past week while waiting on the response from the hobby store just to find out they have done nothing.
There should be 2 pairs of wires (red& black)connected with yellow wire nuts one set goes to the front truck ,the other to the back truck. You are probably missing the set of wires too. You can see the hole in the bottom of the truck, where the pickup and insulating block should be. I've had quite a few of these apart lately.
Did you buy it from "local hobby store"? If so I would take a trip down there with it.
I'll join the chorus, there most certainly should be at least two pickups, that's universal on any powered units, even small things like speeders! Many diesels have four pickups, but never one.
Return unit, ask for money back, no matter how busy they are,, you are a customer too.
If this fails, call MTH, during business hours.
From the pics, looks like you never had a pickup, manufacturing screw up or hobby shop needed a pickup and removed it? Who can tell?
