Does anyone remember what Jim Barrett said some years ago on the spacing or number of track sections to drop a wire feed to maintain good conductivity? I seem to recall it was either 4 or 8 track section joints? I am using Ross tinplate track and plan to operate both DCS and TMCC/Legacy if that matters. Or, anyone with experience, what is your rule of thumb?

I've got pretty good joints.
Paul,
on my larger layout I dropped feeders about every 5 ft and it worked really well, on my existing layout I did the same thing with the same results.

I remember that one forum member talked about every 5 sections of track irregardless of the length of the individual section of track. That may relate to what Dale said. " Much more important is efficiency of the joints" I couldn't find the topic posts for you.

My feeders are about every 20 feet

Dale,
I found that my DCS layout worked better at 15' max, if I wanted to maintain all 10
signal strength. Even then every once in a while I needed a magic street light or lock on.
