Can someone explain how to wire Mth houses with lights.

14 to 22 guage wire works well.
You may want to put a 5 amp fuse in line to allow for any shorts that may occur.

For a lighted house, #22 will be more than sufficient, even for a few of them all wired to one feed. The only precaution I'd take is to fuse the line at the source. No reason to use anything heavier unless you have a ton of lights as the load.
A Feeder or a buss is just a heavier gauged wire or in larger applications a copper bar. If you ran one the length of your layout, you can just tap into it when ever you need that voltage for an accessory.
Example I run a 18 gauge wire to several terminal boards on the layout powered by a transformer at 12-14V. Then I run shorted 20-22 gauge wire from a lighted accessory to those terminals (feeder point). G

Stranded or solid will work, but stranded wire stands up to movement better. If it's a truly static wire installation, you can use solid wire.
