So I finally have all the switches on my layout wired (Ross Switches/DZ1000 switch machines), tried power, and I have some questions/issues as I work my way through them (I finally got them to throw right, realized I didn't have enough power to them, using the B channel on a ZW to power them. )

1)In the controller some of the leds seem to fit loosely/have a flaky connection with the socket. Is there any trick to make it a better connection? So if it isn't lit and I push it down gently, it will come on, but it is obviously loose in the socket. I tried swapping an led from another controller that worked and it didn't help.

2)On the switch machine side, I have several switches where the LED's light up if I press the controller button , but they don't stay lit once I let go of the button. Of the 13 switches I have, 2 are like this. Anyone have any idea why they are doing this and if there is anything I can do to repair it? I assume it has to do with contacts in the switch machine not working right, but I don't see any way to open it up to look at it.

Thanks for any help with this. The wiring to the switch I assume is correct since the switch itself activates and the led's light up when throwing the switch, just don't stay lit as I noted above.

With your 1st question your LED is not fully inserted into the socket. Push down a little harder and you’ll feel it fully engage the socket.
On the second issue go to the DZ website and you’ll see a section on problem solving. If you are wired for non derail you’ll see where you will need a diode added  to the wiring.

Are the diodes required or just if you want to eliminate the flashing leds as cars pass through the non derailing section?

One note to everyone, the switches themselves are working fine, they throw. The issue is strictly with the leds and how they light (or don't). Z stuff doesn't really have much debugging  info. One thing I did figure out is a)being older, tiny leds are not easy to work with and b)being a lifelong klutz, they are easy to lose! Fortunately Jameco has a replacement for the LEDs (the one Z stuff recommends isn't available, but they have alternate ones).  I am debugging the switches anyway, I figured out the way I oriented the controller on the panel didn't match what I wanted in terms of operation, part of debugging the layout now that wiring is finished. So far the led is the only real issue I have run into and it is obviously minor.
