Did the 1957 Girl's Train Lionel 6464-510 NYC & 6464-515 MKT box cars ever legitimately ever have any other body type than the Type IIB body with the ice hatch roof lines and no rivets in the 7th column?
No. Type IIB has been reported the only legitimate body type for the original 1957 postwar incarnation. Tandem-associates, Train-Station, Greenberg (Ambrose) and Doyle agree; independent primary research may be lacking, so make of this what you will.
Appreciate the response. That's what I see when I look at all the documents out there, but I also see people known as reputable, legitimate sellers offering "original" 1957 6464-510 & 6464-515 box cars with other (Type IIA or Type III) body types. Sometimes even in an "all original" set with boxes & paperwork. Strange. Thanks!
