I need clarification the tpc is set to run conventional I did the max voltage reset M and then pushed H on cab-1 volts went from approximately 12.35 to 15.46 this is all I can get out of it am using a lionel 180 watt powerhouse.

if I remember correctly I had 17.0 volts going into the tpc.

just curious why such a drop on output side of the tpc?

anyone have an idea

• (L,M & H) Use to set the mode and voltage to the track. There are three different settings. • L Sets to command mode, supplying full input voltage to track • M Sets to conventional mode and resets speed limit to maximum • H Sets maximum speed in conventional mode • (HALT) Turns the track power off to all IC Controls products including the TPC3000 • (SET) With the run/program switch in the RUN position • Saves conventional or command mode settings

When I used the TPC 300, I connected 2, 135 watt bricks to it for Power. This gave me the power I needed to run practically 18 volts to the track.  We use Legacy almost exclusively.  The really neat feature of the TPC is friends can run Conventional with the M button....Wow.  The L is for legacy 18 volts to the track. The M is for Conventional with power adjustment 0 to 18 volts..The H setting for our engines.... Command Control has really given Our Hobby a technical advantage....

well well a senior moment!!  the power source is not from a 180 watt powerhouse but from the max transformer with adjustable rheostat so I set it at 20 volts and get 18.11 volts at track with a  2amp draw.

so I used voltmeter to set track at 13.11 volts while the polar express steam and 3 passenger cars are rolling it is running well and is smoking well at this speed.
