Hi- I was how does one go about getting a replacement wiring harness for a lionel legacy engine that is not offered on their part list for my particular engine(which happens to be an h16-44)? Specifically its the harness that plugs into the board one end and splits and plugs into the 2 head lights on either end of the shell. Mine's melted.

Ive read somewhere here that one of their suppliers is a company called Leoco. I went to the website and found the very plug I need but there doesn't seem to be a way of purchasing it from them directly, nor is it pre-wired.

I emailed Lionel requesting what I needed saying it wasn't on the part list and that i had searched the word harness and couldn't come up with anything.  In the reply from customer service i was directed to the parts list anyway. I'm not sure if I should take that to mean that if its not on the parts list, it's not available but I cant call to explain my situation and/or vent my frustration because I'm hard of hearing and can't use the phone.  Thanks for any help  anyone can offer.

Actually, you can buy the connectors from Digikey.

The 2.54mm connectors are the JST EH family, and the 2.0mm connectors are the JST PH family.  These are a 100% clone of the Leoco connectors that are indeed impossible for mere mortals to buy.

Click on the links above to go to the page with the connector family.

+ another 9.00 in shipping for something that weighs a fraction of an ounce of course. But I like to know of all the sources available to you

because base on my experience, you're really on your own when you take it upon yourself to fix your own train, at least when it comes to Lionel. Don't know about the other companies so much, although Atlas seemed to be more willing to work with you on problems rather than just issue you an RMA to send it back
