in the background of lionel's recent paul bunyan video i saw the shell of a railking bantam/ rugged rails j class idk know if this means anything but i'm also scared that if we do get a lionchief j it will not make it because of how no one wanted the turbine from the big book . still kinda sad over that getting cancelled

i understand the turbine wasn't postwar tooling but that old tooling is probably 70 plus years old and possibly too old to be modified or used for lionchief plus 2.0

Are you saying that the turbine set was canceled?

i assume so because its not on the shipping schedule or listed on any major train site like trainworld or lionelstore.com anymore

Well I guess I am just as guilty as the rest since I didn't order it.  The 120th Anniversary Postwar style F3 set from two catalogs ago has been hanging around available at various stores. Not a big seller. I suspect that the market for postwar remakes and/or postwar one offs is very soft right now.

not to mention they were very expensive . the f3 set was a thousand bucks for what is suposed to be "mid range"

also the gg1 freight set from 2019 vol2 was cancelled as well . that was 800

forgive me for asking but what was the issue last time with the moguls?

Well, there were a number of topics that started on them, but here was one of the posts that linked onto another.

Any Lionel Mogul Updates???

Basically Cody there were a number of oddball issues that really confounded a few people. One of the ones was the jerking motion of the engine, not sure if that was linked to the drive rods needing a bushing to keep that from happening. It is a long read, but you can see on that post as well as the other one linked in there. I do know that the TMCC version 38088 New York Central #1924 didn't have any of those problems. Mine just needs the 4 chuffs per rev upgrade along with a Super Chuffer and smoke unit as well and it will be a beast.

I do know that some people did complain about both Mogul's having the traction tires on the front set of drivers. While I have not overloaded mine with a ton of rolling stock, I do see how that could be a big issue. No telling what fixes they will have implemented to this next iteration yields, but I guess we will see(if we all order it).

I bought a NIB Legacy Mogul for a hard to resist price and took a chance on the ability to make it right.  All I did was add some bushings to the drive rods and it's hopping days were over!

I also tried moving the traction tire equipped wheelset to the rear, but that really didn't help traction, but caused rough running as well as an occasional derailment.  I moved them back to the front.

I saw someone posted this …

Whoever posted this is cruel, had me thinking we were getting a new yellow-belly C&O Hudson (I very much regret not getting a 3rd Rail version during pre-order period or when they were still selling surplus). But no, it's a fantasy Greenbrier! More power to Lionel's artistic license, but I was definitely let down after this picture got my hopes up!
