Speaking of "Buy anything cool lately?", I expect to take delivery tomorrow of a new set of Lionel Legacy PA diesels.  The New Haven line in classic black and red!  This is a replacement for the pair of the same supposedly "delivered" to me 2 weeks ago by FedEx.  Their "proof of delivery" is the driver's note "left at garage."  I don't have a garage and, at the moment, neither do I yet have that pair of New Haven PA diesels.  In an email today, Lionel assured me this set arriving tomorrow is the very last set they have in stock.  I hope they got the full $999.99 from FedEx on the "lost" set that is probably under the driver's Christmas tree right now....

I hope they used a different shipper this time too.
The PA is one of my faves. Share some pix when you get them.

A couple new cars that fit my early 70's era. A Panther Pink Dodge Challenger & a 65 Honda.

Dave, nice set of Mopar's and the new pink one really jumps out at you. The Honda car was before it's time in the USA, Honda didn't start importing cars into the US until 1970. Buy hey, somebody could have special ordered it. It would be a conversation piece in those days, "I thought Honda only made motorcycles"? I like it, that's a cool find and a great addition to your layout. Dig your posts!

Is your layout ready to run some trains and do some videos? I'm looking forward to that!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!

Brand spanking new!!!

I ordered this in the Fall of 2020, and forgot all about it until I received an e-mail from Lionel Store saying that my credit card was declined.  After getting that all sorted out on Tuesday, I was shocked to find the train only two days later.  I am loving it, though.  These cars are pretty close to scale, and seem gigantic compared to what I usually get in O gauge. It's a Festivus Miracle!

The GP7 is oriented to be short hood forward, but I prefer the long hood forward look.  It runs smoother this way over my O27 track, too.

Earlier this week, I visited Atlanta, Indiana, home of @MrMuffin'sTrains.  I had been eyeing a new steam engine and few other items for me for Christmas.  I set a budget, and well.... exceeded it.  If you haven't been to see Steve's operation and Atlanta, then you are missing something.  I am excited to open my gifts tomorrow.

John

I love going up to Mr. Muffin’s!

Looking forward to seeing what you got!

WOW JD.

Now that is the way to spruce up this thread. WOW

These just missed Christmas! These are the new Erie Lackawanna 21” passenger cars from Lionel. I picked up the 4 and 2 packs. The Tavern car is a real treat with the “Phoebe Snow” placards painted on. I also appreciate that lionel used the mostly correct tooling for this car, rather then the rounded observation car. This set is a beaut. I don’t have E8s or anywhere to run them yet haha85D3E2FB-927C-4AD4-A1D4-910F90FE0F50A50B66BA-2265-46BD-9375-E04BD2B6A89003EA65F0-2AA6-4D41-87A5-28EC42D3CA47FD041815-DFB3-4D1D-B2BC-D888DAB1BFB0

I bought a 55 Ford. It's not perfect for my early 70's era but I liked it. I weathered it so I think it'll fit in.

Hi Dave, is that the pedestal it came on? If it is, its a '55 Nissan. I'm not sure it's a ford, what did the box say, I'm curious! The weathering however is top notch, cause in the '70's that's probably what it would look like. LoL

So I decided to pick up a secondary resolution this year, that is to actually get myself a proper Christmas train that isn't just 2 cars from the Bass Pro Christmas set combined with a 2010 holiday boxcar, these are the first two cars for this new train, a present dump car and a candy cane flatbed. I don't have the uncoupler track to activate the dumper, but honestly knowing my trash luck I'd dump the cargo and lose 5 of the presents on the first go so I'm not concerned about that.

For the longest time, I have been telling myself that I really have to stop looking at Grzyboski’s website... fortunately, I have learned to ignore the voices in my head

A year or two ago, they had a NOS Lionel Dreyfuss Hudson from 2002 which I jumped on (definitely one of my favorite NYC steamers). Well a recent thread about NYC passenger cars got me thinking/looking, and low and behold, Grzyboski’s had a NOS set of the 20th Century Limited passenger cars issued along with the Hudson in 2002!!! They are 15” aluminum cars and are beautiful. They are also pretty heavy. And while I’m on the topic, unlike the current 21” passenger cars, the 2002 cars come securely packed. No flimsy plastic clamshells.

Here is a short video with the 20th Century followed closely by a J3a Hudson pulling the recent Pacemaker Freight set I picked up last week. Nice sharp graphics, and great sounds from the VisionLine boxcar. The LED’s in the caboose are a bit bright...

*** I removed the viewable video and posted a Standard Def version below***

Paul, I see the video and it plays, but it's super overexposed and I really can't see any detail. The photos are great.
