Wow, Joe... and my old boss used to call ME the resident cynic!!! And you should know better - the state of hopelessness is the great UNSPOKEN truth

Are you kidding - You have to buy the cars!  They will match the PAs perfectly.

Well, another bad influence is heard from Even with a 14’ x 16’ layout and O-72 and O-84 curves, the 21” cars are a bit much (I have a few sets... Alaska, LIRR, 2 different PRR, NH). I do have two sets of D&H passenger cars - a set of Lionel 15” aluminum cars and a set of MTH 17” (I believe) ABS cars. I think I can resist... for now...

I did not pre-order these, but, when I saw them, I just couldn’t resist. The fact that they are D&H didn’t help They are quite sharp and the “plating” is rather nice.

When I get a chance in the next day or two I’ll have to pull down my TMCC PA’s as well as my two sets of D&H passenger cars. Having those two sets of cars did help me resist splurging on more 21” passenger cars, so I guess there is some hope for me!!!

Paul  ......because of your  " Mea Maxima Culpa "   your Penance shall be boxing up the D&H PAs and sending them to my address FREE of ALL COST .

Really great looking units Paul. 👍

Very nice Paul. Let's see the whole set in action.

Wow, Father Dallas... with that harsh of a Penance, I’d think you’d at least pick up the shipping. I guess I can forget any Absolution

Dear Mr. Kettle... when your D&H’s get on the rails, THEN you can call me Pot   Today was taken up with buying a Christmas Tree, so hopefully I’ll get back to the basement tomorrow and get both D&H trains up and running.

Currently residing in my dorm till I have a chance to take it home tomorrow, an ETS set. This thing has been sitting in the window of a hobby store near my college for the past several months and I finally decided to pick it up. It came with a few pieces of 2 rail track but the engine is set up for 3 rail operation and has a lionel coupler, which poses a bit of a problem as the cars all have ETS couplers which work together in theory but they're set lower... That covered flatcar has a "sticky" one which is promising

Paul , the ABSOLUTION comes with the arrival here of the PAs.    I WILL have a COLLECTION taken up for half the SHIPPING ..........we are after all ....not perfect. 😔

Certainly easy to see the temptation on those units Paul.

Sorry, Padre... as the video below show, the PA’s are just too fine to consider for trading as penance... I think I’ll have to seek forgiveness in a different Parish

"Plated D&H PA's...you never stood a chance @Apples55!", sounds like absolution without any penance to me!  Could even be stretched into permission to buy the 21" cars.

Joe;

Get behind me you bad influence... Looks like I will have to continue my descent down the slippery slope without absolution... I like the look of the 15” and 18” cars I currently own...

Skyline Chilli :  Wow brings back memories of our 20 years in Ohio.  Let me know...is it a "1 Way, 2Way or 3 Way " boxcar

Great car Monon...best wishes

Don

I live in Indianapolis, but used to go down to Cincinnati all the time many years ago. I think I had Skyline more than any of the others, but I remember really liking Gold Star and Camp Washington.

I prefer my box cars 1-way because I don't think cheese, onions, and beans really work well when running trains, but that's my own personal preference. 😛 To each their own! LOL

Thanks, Don!

SCORE

I bought a prewar Lionel set #234.  This includes #258 engine, 257 tender, two #529 pullmans, #530 observation, and a #068 crossing sign.  The engine will need new wheels.  It comes with all boxes and set box.   I can't wait.  Wish I had a working layout about now.

Love the artwork on these old set boxes. Great find Bill.

Paul, I concur those two D&H passenger consists look great just as they are.  I think one has to have very large curves and really long straightaways for the 21" cars to look good.

You’re right, Joe. I’m pretty good on the curves (minimum O-72), but it’s the straightaways that I lack - even at my layout size of 14’x16’. For the 21” cars that I’ve purchased, I tend to just get 2 or 4 car sets. With the D&H set, the engines are 39” long, and if you add the 4-car set of passenger cars, that adds app. 84”, so you have a ten foot train!!! As with so many here-abouts, I wish I had more space

Paul, I would venture to say that no matter how disciplined a person is in purchasing engines and cars that 'fit their space', something will come along that will seem too large.  I just purchased a 4-car set of 18" NYC 20th Century Limited cars to go with the K-Line Hudson that is now at Pat "Harmonyards" for an upgrade.  I had two of the cars sitting on an 054 mainline curve from when I unboxed them and was checking the lighting.  I wanted to run a test train around the mainline, so I picked the cars up by hand and moved them to the curved passing siding.  I couldn't get all the wheels on the track.  Then I remembered my passing tracks have 042 curves thinking the biggest thing that would ever be on them would be H9 Consolidations.  Well, the 20th Century Limited will be running the mainline and all others will have to go to the siding, so it won't matter.  My layout is 11'x8'

These came in the mail today, building an outer loop for two postwar engines, using the plan from Oct 2007 CTT. Inner loop, sidings will utilize two Lionchief engines. Might have to see if one of the drawf signals can be changed from red to yellow and have a flashing relay. Don’t want to hack them up, expect the bulbs are soldered in.

Ending buying the ZW from Hennings Trains and love it.  I also got a Lionel Rocket launcher for my layout since I do so much work with Redstone Arsenal why not add a rocket to the layout.

BAMBAM,  the ZW looks great!  I had Hennings refurbish my ZW adding surge suppression for the electronics in modern trains.  Very nice job!  Good idea adding the rocket launcher!

A quick photo of way cool!

been wanting an original 192 for a L O N G time.

my Christmas present to myself.

Thanks, Leroof, you just reminded me that I also have one of these, and have the perfect spot to put it on my layout expansion to oversee all of the construction and activity.

Got to crack the whip and get that expansion done before Christmas! Time is money! LOL.

Will set it up and post photo/video later.

Picked up the Williams 70-ton locomotive, Trainworld had them for $159.99.  Obviously, these didn't sell as fast as Williams thought they might.

Got it in the morning, and by afternoon it was full command control, I used the ERR Cruise Commander Lite and the Gas Powered motorized unit ERR RailSounds Commander.  I also gave it better headlights and a command controlled cab light.  Sadly, electrocouplers weren't in the cards, the oddball coupler mounts make that a very difficult task.  I did it with identical couplers on the Williams 44-ton locomotive and decided I'd never do that again!

Here's the command version pulling a few tank cars on it's maiden run.

Looks great, John.  Thank you for the tip; I won’t try putting electrocouplers on my Williams 44-ton when I put in ERR

Nice John.    Great price.

Will the couplers operate with the Lionel or MTH electromagnet track sections ? 🤔

Good plan, it is a royal PITA.  You can read about it here.
