Picked this Behemoth EM-1 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone up last month and boy is she a head turner!! Made a great lead engine for my WM Steam Era Coal Drag!
Also this was my first ever Lionel Legacy Engine and boy was I ever impressed with the speaker quality having had a fleet of MTH engines up to this point😎

Thanks! Yeah she is fast becoming a favorite. My next step is to get her weathered like she would’ve looked during the steam era along all the cars in my coal drag.

Drew; it looks great! I wish I had the room to run one. I would sell several engines to get one.

That certainly is impresive. I can't imagine the realestate you need to run that.

Minimum 072 on this girl Dave Haha. I don’t run her at home because I don’t have O 72 curves, so she’s mainly a club layout runner. when I first got the engine though I was able to run it up and down on my straight track but that’s about all I could do couldn’t enter any curves with it. Living in an apartment as of right now I don’t have the space for O 72 curves or above unless I did like a carpet layout. In fact most of the guys in our club that have big diesel or steam locomotives don’t have the space for a layout either so the club layout is really where we run a lot of our big stuff.

Thanks Mark! I definitely agree she’s a beaut! Of all the articulated steam locomotives out there, I had always wanted a Yellowstone.
What I thought was really cool is even though this is a what if paint scheme, the western Maryland was actually considering buying the EM1 because of the success the B&O had with it. Unfortunately, that never came to pass as the EM 1 was in existence for only a short time
I had originally wanted an M2 challenger but after some extensive research I found out that the M2 challengers from MTH had significant gear binding problems and other mechanical issues and that the majority of people that bought them had more problems with them than good experiences, so I felt like I would rather have an engine that would run well even if it was somewhat of a what if situation for this particular road. Sometimes there’s a compromise in model railroading just because of mechanical problems and I would rather have an engine that runs well than one that’s just a shelf model if that makes any sense

Drew, I knew it would take 072. My curves are 054. It is good you can take it to run at your club!!!

Drew, It is good to do the research!! I try to be prototypical, but am like you making compromises where necessary! At the cost of the high end steam engines, either Lionel, MTH, or other, you want to avoid any problems that can be anticipated. What club do you belong to?

Picked up 3 cars at the "Christmas Trains" show in Sioux Falls, SD. Two are early Atlas/Austria - I like their detail & they have already had weight & metal trucks added so they are good to go. The TP&W is a new Weaver. I am happy to pickup 3 cars, that I like, for under $50 ttl. 
Satan came early this year! An HO starter set of all things. I can't wait to hook my TIU up and run my MTH CSX ES44AC on this oval! There is a MTH Southern Pacific Dash-9 in the larger box. Of course, being in the larger box, it only runs on conventional.

Picked up this TMCC B&O F3 from back in 2003 for a song today. Thing had never been out of the box!
While lacking some of the bells and whistles of their legacy counterparts, I’m always impressed by the build quality and fit and finish of these early-to-mid-2000s Lionel diesels.

Definitely well spent cash. 😉 All three are nice. I especially like the D&RGW . I don't have a car like that but I'm going to have to look for one.
First 3 phots are all from the ATMA first frost- definitely very weaver centric ha!
Got 2 Lionel items at the first frost: ATSF 50’ DD boxcar w/ End doors...Ford boxcar by Weaver was from eBay

The box in the Bottom left of the first picture contained this Weaver custom painted GP38-2 GM&O non-powered for only $50....Got the Legacy stamped BNSF NIB from a fellow TCA member ina Private Sale
Love the GP38 in general! Wish that Lionel would make some with Legacy!!(it’s been 13 years since they’ve done so and they seem to have been relegated to LC + status)....Love geeps in general, already has the Kodachrome GP35 but wanted something more traditional yet still different- the subtle BNSF stamping on the loco body worked out great!

The "merchandise service" box car has never been done before in O scale, as I understand it. As for the yellow reefer, it's a re-run with new numbers, although this type of Monon reefer is entirely new to me since I didn't get the previous run.

Those are both good looking. Mr Muffin's sure picks some nice units for custom runs.
Having grown up around Cleveland I initially wanted one of these when cataloged, but it just wasn't in the budget at the time. Saw Mr. Muffin advertise this one and jumped at the chance. Even though I'll probably never get to recreate Terminal Tower on my future layout, and don't do much re: electric, still will look nice at the front of my Lionel Empire State Express.

Forgot to mention that I also got a couple of beautiful reefers recently (two road numbers of the same design). Thank you to @PATSTRAINS for doing the custom run! Can't wait to run them tomorrow.

Just yesterday this Premier Western Maryland F3 AA set came in the mail. I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more ProtoSound (PS1 if you will), but though it was made in 1995, it was new in the box except he put a BCR in it and checked out operation. I got it for less than $200. It runs great for a PS. I have installed PS3 upgrade kits, but with the availability and who knows about upgrade kits with the 'New MTH', I may put ERR in it since I do run TMCC also.

I got one when they were first announced for basically the exact same reason. Looks beautiful they just seem so quiet compared to everything else.

What kind of locomotive is this? I missed my chance to pick one up at my LHS before so I want to be ready next time.

It's a P-motor. Originally built for Cleveland Union Terminal where they ran under catenary, they eventually got rebuilt for third rail for the New York Central at Grand Central.

Nice haul Mike. You and Berwyns have great taste. I think the custom runs that are being done now are the future. So many choices as the dealers know what sells better than the manufactures.

Thanks. I agree that dealers know what sell more than the manufacturers. I also think the limited editions of custom runs make them similar to exclusive club cars, except they are custom painted runs that the manufacturers are already doing. I think that adds more value and creates a sense of urgency and desire to pre-order. And it's fun to see the frequent new release announcements and the research notes/drawings behind the choices. I would think this will help maintain their value as collectibles. Seems like a win-win for all involved. Berwyn's and Mr. Muffins are hitting the right Midwest notes with me and I hope they will continue to do so.
