Hello theteejmiester
That Challenger is about 32 inches long ? How wide is the hutch as I would like put in the Texas and 10 cars in mult-levels in hutch in something like 3 scale cars per level if that's possible ? I once had a 1970 dodge Challenger back in 1976. The U.P. Challenger is a good looking engine my second favorite steam engine. I am surprised that the glass plates can handle 15 plus pounds without breaking as my Texas is about almost 13 pounds with no weights added. Thank you for showing me that it can be done

Months after finding the first one, which l kit bashed into a coal dump truck, l found two more Matchbox 1937 Internationals. These trucks were everywhere when l was a kid, and l wanted another for a box milk truck as picked up milk cans at my grandfather's farm gate. John Willy, a local unwashed character not allowed to ride in the cab due to his aroma, will be depicted riding on the tailgate as he used to ride into Louisville, Ky. in the 1940's. Not sure what l will do with the second one, make a stock truck or sugar beet truck.
No sooner had l tracked down the two lnternationals cited above, than in floats, shipped very fast, the second of two released 1/43 Grahams for my dealership. This is the 1937 version to add to the 1933. Interesting that it still used the cloth top insert, when GM had gone to all steel bodies in 1935, two years earlier. Wonder how much all steel affected sales then? Next Brooklin needs to offer the "ugly Hupp" 1934-36 Hupmobile, which like the VW bug, is so ugly it is "cute". Other Hupps worth modeling are the distinctive cycle-fendered 1932-33 models. None of the major dealers had either of these Grahams. And l await 1930's-1940 Chevrolet's.
Never rains but it pours. A flock of Graham used cars for my Graham dealership, then l found two elusive Matchbox 1937 Internationals after looking for months, AND, this morning found two more! I better start saving up for my three rail McKeen car, Mack railbus, Little River 2-4-4-2, and small two truck Heisler. They must be coming shortly .
Where can I purchase Atlas RSD15 Santa Fe? Very cool looking engine.
Just picked up my Long Island 4-6-0 G5s #35 from Charlie at Nassau Hobby. #35 was one of the last steam engines to run on Long Island in the fall of 1955. It will hopefully be restored as part of the Oyster Bay Rail Road Museum project. This just became my favorite engine. What a beauty!

I know you've been looking and talking about this for awhile. What's the story on getting it? I've got a superb one coming soon from a collection and was going to offer you my very nice one. I don't know you, but I could feel your passion for them so you were going to get the first chance. I know that feeling.
yeah been wanting one for a while Matt. Never really got serious, I'd watch them on the bay, and usually that would get above my budget pretty quick. There's been a few lately in my range, but with the tender separate. I figured I'd just build a Vandy tender like I did for my 225E, but the more I looked the more I wanted that 2226w. Got this one off the bay today, seller dropped the price enough and I got myself a Christmas present.Missing a few trim pieces, but Jeff Kane will take care of that.I've seen some go for less, and some for a lot more. I think I did OK. Now I'll have the triplets...224E,225E,and the 226E. I really appreciate you're thinking of me.

I could tell you're like me, not loaded with cash. Sucks to have been born good looking instead of wealthy, eh!
I've amassed a pretty nice collection over many years. All through either luck, trades, great people letting me make payments, or some other method than being able to sling out cash. Gotta get crafty when one is not loaded. I always find a way, at least most of the time. I'll have money someday, just don't know when! I'm on the right track though......I think.
you've got that right.I've got plenty of ready to run engines, so I usually scrounge the jink boxes looking for projects. met some great people this way. I bought some stuff off of here, and even the bay, and the seller shipped before I could pay. doesn't happen very often, but it's good to know there are some you feel that you can still take a man at his word.
Our Frankenstein steel coaster arrived this weekend from CoasterDynamix. My son put it together and wanted to add it to the layout. We had a tough time finding room for both coasters while leaving space for carnival rides. We came up with this configuration. Originally, we had the coaster through the loop but that was a little too crazy for me. We decided to have the train go underneath the coaster.

All right!!! It looks super!!
Thanks to a thread started by brianel about a sale at Lionel Direct of the Lionel Dinosaur Set, I purchased one of the sets. That set has become a favorite of a 2 year old, and, a 5 year old that visit the layout.
I bought some plastic easter eggs that are hinged, and open [Amazon] to replace the eggs that come with the set, are solid plastic, and don't open. I also bought some miniature dinosaurs [Amazon] as "hatchlings" to put into the eggs. Both boys have a great time loading and unloading the eggs onto the gondola that comes with the set, and, the two additional Lionel gondolas that I have added to the set.
Their mom holds the 2 year old in her lap while he gleefully runs the set with the LionChief remote.
Mr. Brown dropped off a nice package for me yesterday. I couldn't get to it till today. I finally got the sound cars and a few other things I was able to get since they had been out for a long time. Pics...............Paul
Purchased 8 of these from Tony’s Trains in Cedar Grove NJ.
Could not pass up this deal/price.
Everything is new and in their boxes.
At this time, I do not have a layout but been picking up items such as track/switches/transformers for a very simple Tinplate/early post war Fun layout.
I would like to start a layout on a 4X8 table, Maybe two loops. I know it is small area but at least I will have a development of houses with a single street that will run through the layout. I also have plenty of post and prewar 58 Goose neck lamps. These will be good lining the street. Lots of 0 27 track new switches. Most of the item that will be runnibg are prewar electrics (0-4-0) with 4 wheel cars so radius is not a problem.
Nothing fancy but just want to run and play with my trains and escape reality for a while, I call this "Ron's World"
Has anyone ever used these lots with houses on their layout?
If so could you send me some pictures for ideas?
Below is a list and QTY on what I purchased.

I just received an American Flyer 4621 passenger set from 1948. It consists of a 332DC Northern, a Red 718 operating mail car, two Red 650 coaches, a Red 652 Pullman, and a Red 654 observation. No boxes, but the train was in really great shape. These are the auction pictures, I've just finished cleaning it up and it runs pretty good too.
Nice looking set!
there are a set of those red Flyer cars at our local antique mall. Not one of the regular dealers that has trains. Someone had swapped the trucks for Lionel Postwar and missing a few small parts. Thought they would look good behind one of my Marx steamers until I saw he wanted $35-$40 each.
When I had some AF I had those red passenger cars which I liked. Didn't pay that much for them though. Especially with Lionel trucks but i think they would work behind a Marx.

Thanks Dave, I've had a little AF weakness this month for some reason. Yeah (35-40), that's a little steep for cars that have been worked. You know there are prewar three rail tin AF passenger cars that come up on ebay fairly often . Look for numbers 490 whistling baggage, 492 operating mail car, 494 plain old baggage car, and 495 New Haven style coach. There are also a couple of 12 wheel tin cars, 496 and 497. Hard to find those last two for a decent price though... Any or all would look great behind a Marx steamer...or you could dig up one of these
You see a bunch of these on the bay, 561 is the most common.
yeah I'd love to get one of those.Really nice looking engine. But I need to let the kitty get replenished. How much of a concern is the zinc pest on the Prewar Flyer? CTT did a story several years back on Prewar Flyer O Gauge, and the pest seemed to be a problem.
It's a problem, but it will have already reared its ugly head meaning if its still solid now, it will stay solid. You almost have to look for parts and put em together that way. That 559 is one of the few that I didn't have to build from parts. But I know your like me, you like to build em up
