I have one O gauge AF steam engine and bought it at a show cheap because one wheel had the "pest". The seller told me he couldn't find a replacement. It was deeply pitted but the center was OK so I used some of that metal in a tube and it has stayed together. Good pre-war AF in O gauge seems hard to find. Not cheap.
Although I have not tried one yet, I see that there are repro drivers available for these engine's. Frankly, I've found it easier and cheaper to just keep an eye out for motors, frames, boiler shells etc. It is a challenge for sure but it is fun to build one up. I just finished a 531 Hudson from 2-3 engines worth of parts. I paid 15-20 bucks for each one. So far no repro parts.

How do You like the coaster? Would you recommend it as a centerpiece for a layout?
I received my order of cast figures from Scale City Designs. The castings are very nicely done with little to no flash that must be removed. Nice addition to my layout population. I am looking forward to their increasing their offerings on their web sight.

Wow Larry, Your going BIG time! Now your going to have to build a bigger airfield outside so you son can see it when he pulls up to visit! It's a good thing you have Davy to bounce things off of!
Merry Christmas!

Hey Dave, did you ever get around to the Decal DIY?
Mike
No airport on this one , but he will see the water fall..
Dave , I stumbled over this train completely by accident.
Merry Christmas all.

My most recent arrival is a MTH Contemporary Millennium Set. Its gorgeous, even more so in person.
HOWEVER, it ran all of about a minute and died. sparks seen in engine compartment. metal smell. new battery put in. reset to factory default. nada.
Sending it tomorrow back to the seller to get it fixed.
Just picked up another Kline car for the "Train of Sin". We ran it last week and there were only 78 alcohol/tobacco cars (I forgot and left 4 @home). It was universally agreed among the club members that I need more cars........
Acquired a nice original No 20142 American Flyer set today called the "Near Hit but Miss" with a figure 8 layout where the locomotive pulling 13 cars almost hits the caboose as it crosses over from one loop to the next. It's in overall excellent condition. Am offering in the FS board as we have no room to display it now.

Hoping for delivery this week of Walthers built up Golden Valley depot and Lionel Rico station to be modified as a restaurant and separate trackside freight house. I previously bought a Lionel power house building. Looking to acquire a one story Ameritowne building for companion to power house bldg.
Won a pair of MTH crossing gates on "the bay" yesterday. Threw in a bid 4 hours before the end of the auction and forgot about it till I checked my email today. Can't wait to get them on the layout.
Matt that Iroquois reefer is sweet, I got one when they first came out.
Gilly I like that K-line reefer too, wish I had one.
An unexpected New Year's present - Pack A of the LionScale C&O hoppers arrived today! Will have to break out the Allegheny & test them out on my new downstairs loop this evening. Unless, of course, the wife goes into labor....

My wife was kind enough to buy me a Lionel 616 ATSF switcher (Postwar) for Christmas. It's a great little runner.
Hartman-welcome to the SSI club where you learn to get along with less. Nice engine set. I like the color scheme.
