She's giving me the old silent treatment.  After 10 years of TLC, she's done gone dumb on me.  Breaking my heart.  She's TMCC, all functions work great, except for no sound.  Inserting a battery doesn't make a difference, I played with volume control knob, I checked the wiring and didn't see any loose wires.  I will admit the TLC may have come with a fair share of derailments, shorts etc. in her 10 years of service.  Could that have fried out the sound board?  I always kind of wanted to change her sounds, because they are identical to her big brother parked behind her and this may be an opportunity to do so.

I'd love to figure out how to fix her myself.  First problem is, how do I analyze to find the root of the problem?  I may not have the right tools to be able to test what needs to be tested.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.  Here's the inside.  I think the sound board is right on top on the left side of the tender.  Has a label GENS 10 Lionel Trains

The sound board is the board on the left in the tender, but there is also a power supply board if it's a modular setup.  Are there two boards plugged into a small motherboard?  Can you tell us the part numbers silk-screened onto each board?

My method would be to try the boards in a working locomotive first, just to rule out some simple wiring issue.  Have you checked the tether to see if it's still whole?  The tether connection to the board on one end or the other is a common failure point.
