Has anyone gotten their Legacy 990's yet. Besides the few people that got them before Christmas. I've had mine on order since Nov. 21, 2011. TT
my 990 was ordered in Feb 2011 and received in dec 2011. ordering in nov you might have to wait a little longer. I heard that sometime in feb or march 2012 there should be some more 990s.
lionels web site has a place to sign up for emails when the 990s are instock. I know the link says 993 but the 990 is also listed.

I guess it depends on how many Hobby Station had backordered and where you are on their list.
That's what I would do and other have to solve that issue with the new run of 990s.

Register it so you can receive information about updates. Soon updates will via the internet or via a module that will be available through Lionel but I believe they are going to start charging for that option.
The download via the internet will be done to a one time purchased black module. I haven't heard whether the download will cost anything, I hope not, but you can keep the versions on your lap top and write to the black module as needed.
Hope this is true!
I just got a reply from Grzyboski's Trains, and they said they do not know when Lionel will release more. So I am kind of skeptical at this point.
I talked to Charles Ro Today, they are not expecting until March 1, we shall see!!
Crazy!
LOL! I am not going to say anymore!
Have a Good night!
yep! charles ro says now 3-10-2012 for the 990.
Another one of Lionel's screw-ups!!!!! We might get them in another year or two---maybe three!!!!!!

how is it Lionel's fault if they can not get the parts? do you remember the tsunami in japan? I believe some of the electrical components come from japan.
I talked to Lionel (Jay Don) at the WGH in SLC two weeks ago. A small shipment this month a full shipment in March
Having worked in the aerospace industry for many years, I can tell you that when critical parts are not available, they're simply not available! Seems that there's always one critical part that's single-sourced, and suddenly there's a huge delay!
Life sucks, that's the way it is.
This seems to be Lionel's ongoing problem of posting a production date and not coming thru on or even near this date. I ordered some switch tracks that were to be operated with a CAB-1 back in 2009. It was well over a year before they ever came out with them. Each time they put out about 4-5 different production dates!!! After the first year, I bought the remote switch tracks and cancelled the CAB-1 operated ones. I also have a friend who has ordered Lionel Productions with production dates being pushed back each time. He said he has had stuff on order for almost two years now!!! Is this anyway to run a business???
I do not see a production date posted. I see a shipping date posted, and all through it does not say "subject to change without notice" I am sure some thing along that line is posted some where on their web site. I remember many years ago when I ordered my truck the expected shipping date changed many times.
got this message from Lionel today;

This message is to notify you that we again have #990 LEGACY Command Set in stock and available for purchase at LionelStore.com.
So much for the jokers selling at a premium on eBay. Hopefully, they'll begin to show up at other on-line retailers and be back in the $270-280 range again.
I noticed many of the sellers are listing at retail. They seem to have a few sucessful sales at that, and a few no sales. So it works for them. I rather buy from the traditional train stores which have telephones that pick up when and if you call. These stores routinely offer a little better prices and reasonable shipping.
Last year I bought my Legacy #990 for $269 on-line, so when the supply pipeline is filled again, I expect the prices to return to something like that level.
My wife sent a message to Hobby Station who I have had my 990 on order with since Nov. 20. 2011. They sent her a message back saying they won't have them until 3/20/12. Who knows how many people are ahead of me and how many they will actually receive from Lionel. Their price is $295.00.
Just look at oil, a shortage makes prices rise. When the pipeline is full again, they'll come back to reasonable levels.
