I don't recall any hot dog events hosted by AGHR at York, at least not since I started going in 2008.  Can't say it didn't happen, though, before or after.

For a couple of years around 2013-2014, a former forum member, 3rdrailMike (he got out of O gauge in the mid 2010's), got official permission to hold hot dog cookouts on the fairgrounds on Thursdays before the meet opened.  Other OGR Forum members helped and brought additional stuff like condiments, napkins, soft drinks, etc., and some of the rest of us kicked in a few bucks (although this was not required).

Here are links to the threads I could find on the subject:

charcoal-dogs-knishes-and-dr-browns

49-days-and-the-grill-and-dogs-will-be-ready  (this one was cancelled)

hot-dogs-knishes-and-dr-browns

Looking at these threads and the pix in them brings back a lot of good memories.

Those are good posts. I can imagine how it must've been.

With regard to hot dog events hosted by AGHR at York, here is what I specifically wanted to clarify:

I happened to read on this thread - Weekend Photo Fun 4-18-13 - a post by @aghrjack1 said the following:

"Regarding the York Hot Dog Fest, up at  Angels Gate Hi-Railers, members host a hot dog barby-q for open house."

So, I was trying to understand what kind of event this "York Hot Dog Fest" was that the Angels Gate Hi-Railers would hold as a club event twice a year as part of the TCA York Meet, and whether whether the AGHR still does it.

I'm sure there are some people on this forum who are AGHR members (e.g., @aghrjack1 and @AGHRMatt) who might have an answer :-)

We're not affiliated with TCA/York, but our fall open houses often coincided with fall York. We typically grilled "hot dogs" (actually bratwurst or Italian sausages) for the members. That was an act of defiance to our dietary restrictions (brats and Italian sausages are about the worst things for you, but it's only twice a year). Jack (who now rebuilds air-cooled Porsche engines) was a regular participant, as I was.

I retired and left California three years ago (wow) and I'm not sure what happens at the open houses now.

Thanks for the clarification, @AGHRMatt.
