I agree, seeing more obscure locomotives or pieces of rolling stock would be a fresh change.

some different road names would also be neat... why not some SD40-2s from shortline railroads for a change?

while the original NS didn't have SD40-2s It did have gp38s and a few baldwin engines anyway since i live about a mile from an original NS main how about some stuff from the original Norfolk Southern or Carolina Coastal for that matter

It gets harder when you belong to a train club with nearly 100 members and the possibility of over 1000 locomotives.  A lot of overlap of numbers.  We had to reprogram the Legacy controller with specific numbers assigned to certain "classes " of locomotives.  Ie. TMCC diesels,  TMCC steam,  Legacy diesels,  Legacy steam,  TMCC accessories,  Legacy accessories,  etc. Each class has a specific block of numbers that members program their engines to irregardless of the road number. For example my TMCC 611 J has a road number of 611 but I had to program it to 18 because 1 through 17 are reserved for TMCC diesels.

For clubs I definitely. An see the need for four digit locomotive IDs. Perhaps we can wish it will show up in a future Lionel catalog

I’m probably the only one interested in Lionel offering an 0-4-0 Steam Switcher, in Legacy with all the cool features and Steam whistle, a great smoke system, high quality can motor, possibly in several famous road names, and capable of negotiating long Ross turnouts, just my want. Great thread.

Nope. I would like this too. I like the small steam for my switching operations. That last bit about the Ross turnouts is tricky as heck though. I'm picturing the old slope back tenders though and I bet it would tough to stuff a full Legacy outfit in the locomotive and tender.

I also like smaller steam in general. The Y6b and Alleghenys are cool but the small steam has more play value for me because it can head out on the mainline and do switching.

Seconded, if Lionel decided to drop one of the Baltimore and Ohio "Little Joe" docksiders on us this January, that would get an immediate order from me too. They'd probably have to do the same thing they did with the tie-jector and create a companion car to go with it but nevertheless it would be an awesome little engine to have.

Train set

MILWAUKEE ROAD GP38-2 diesel-electric locomotive

3 each of MILWAUKEE ROAD open frame bi-level auto racks on TRAILER TRAIN flat cars

3 each of MILWAUKEE ROAD open frame tri-level auto racks on TRAILER TRAIN flat cars

MILWAUKEE ROAD bay window caboose

If possible have the auto racks loaded with 1970's era HOT WHEELS automobiles and trucks.

I'd be in the market for another run of Conrail 86' auto parts box cars, 4 or 8-door versions.

Perhaps use of the SD40 tooling to produce some CR SD40-2Rs rebuilt from SD40s in 1993, or B&P SD40-3s.

SD60M tooling could be offered in Carload Express and B&P schemes. Those RRs are running some sharp-looking exCon SD60Ms and SD60Is.

As far as any new models, I would love to see scale 34,000 gal LPG tank cars.

hopefully there is something for me in that catalog that i can persuade my god parents into letting me order whatever it is probably a genesis locomotive or something Amtrak related like a set with amfleets or superliners

He’s mentioned it a few times, most recently in the live stream Lionel did with TrainWorld a few weeks ago.

There’ll be a lot in the catalog for sure! Can’t wait to see it!! 😁

There are 2 trains (sets) I would love to see offered:

1) From the movie Unstoppable, a GE AC4400CW AVWR 777, along with the EMD SD40-2 1206.  I've seen some videos that feature custom painted versions of these.

2) The train from Back to the Future III along with a 1:48 scale Delorean complete with blinking LED lights.  I'm not sure how they would make the smoke change from green to yellow to red, but either way they would sell a million of these sets!!!!!!

And, of course the MTH model has the standard HT-C trucks. Cuts down on model tooling costs. Thanks for the info Jonathan.

I have a Weaver SD40-2 that I stole most of the parts out of.  I am going to use the side-frames on one of my MTH FP45s that is painted in Amtrak as the SDP40F had HT-c trucks.  Part of my quest to make it a slightly more accurate model.e

When I did the work on the 3rd Rail / Sunset SD40-2s I was going to use the Conrail details for the CSX version, Flexcoil trucks and all, but interest wasn't there so the CSX ones are former B&O units.

Back to your Lionel wish list!

I would be interested in seeing more 21" passenger car offerings, but I have a LOT of passenger cars as it is.
